Tracking the Coronavirus

9.9% … of the infected, but it’s barely more than 0.01% of their population.

Oh I’m not. I’m thinking you were thinking of this from the first day you posted in this thread. :grinning:

Yep. So far the flu has killed more.

That’s why I made a thread some time ago about the Catch-22 of preventative measures.

Would more have died if they hadn’t been doing those preventative measures?

Same with us here in the States.

If the shutdowns work and not a lot of people die, what percentage of people will say, “See, there was no epidemic, so there was no need for us to shut down everything. We should have been allowed to go on as normal.”

Not considering that it was because of the shutdown that a lot of peoples grandparents and parents didn’t die.

Has Iran quit reporting?

Just checked Johns Hopkins and Iran hasn’t moved. I think they’ve quit reporting. We’ll see what it looks like there tomorrow!

Final report today, 9:10 pm mountain

Only 2 countries have updates, US and UK. Whether they’ve got the virus under control in the others or just haven’t reported…I don’t know. It may well be that they only report once a day, and info is easier to get for the US because every state is doing its own reporting and Johns Hopkins can cull it all together more quickly.

We’ll find out tomorrow about noon, I think - if the numbers for them all change or not!

Six refused to say what pattern he had noticed that caused him to think a ‘pump and dump’ was going on somewhere.

I’m wondering if the pattern is that the USA’s numbers are rising so much faster than everyone else’s?

This might explain it: Americans do what they want to do, and to hell with social distancing and not gathering in large groups. Strictures I expect most of the rest of the world have been following for some time.

What is pump and dump?

A pattern that won’t last.

" Pump and dump " (P&D) is a form of securities fraud that involves artificially inflating the price of an owned stock through false and misleading positive statements, in order to sell the cheaply purchased stock at a higher price.

I would suggest that Australia is a good place to determine whether the weather might play a part in the spreading of the coronavirus. If there is a direct relationship there should be a significant difference between the rates of infection between Queensland and the southern states.

Looks like I should definitely wait til noon before doing the first update of the day in this thread.

US was at 69,684 probably last night. It has now been updated to 75,233.

Deaths last night 1049 - no change there.

As of right now, the CDC is reporting 68,440 known cases and 994 known deaths on their website.

That is a known 1.45% mortality rate.
