While threats of violence are wrong and should be investigated, the 1st amendment doesn’t guarantee the right to speak a universities.

What if they receive funding from the government? Should they be getting government funding?

You don’t think it might be a bit problematic if universities that receive government funding are required to provide a platform and all the organization, work, and infrastructure required to open the auditorium at night, provide lighting, sound, etc… to anyone who wants to? Not to mention all the security required if someone is controversial?

If they have government funding and if they rent out a place for speakers, they cannot discriminate based on the content of that speech.
