The spin is that Trump was less than 50% of popular vote so it wasn’t as good as it could have been.

Yeah, but that’s only about $2.5 million (around 1% of their budget) … nobody will notice, not even NPR.

All the more reason to stop the funding.

Sure, but the Government spends more in half a minute than they give to NPR in a year. Don’t pretend like it would make any difference to the American tax payers.
