South Africa. Nothing to see here

That’s debatable. And more than a bit naive.

White lives clearly don’t matter as much as Sudanese lives.

How so? I don’t recall anyone raising stiff opposition to allowing white populations to obtain refugee status in previous crises.

It’s always been a lottery.

Thus far. Doesn’t mean there can’t be people from elsewhere in the future.

Yes, and justifiably so after the Harris/Biden Administration capriciously and intentionally mass paroled into the US millions and millions of phony asylum seekers from nearly 200 different countries all over the world along with repeatedly lying about the border for all that time:

Oh really? Are you not familiar with the rejection of more than 900 white refugees on the MS St. Louis in 1942?

(1) Jews are not white

(2) Whites have been granted refugee status numerous times since then.

(1) Jews aren’t white? What color are they? :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

(2) Millions of non-whites have been granted refugee status since then too.

Jews are not white. They are from the same land origin as Palestinians and other Arabs.

They weren’t classified as white in 1942.

Many Jewish populations, especially Ashkenazi (my relatives) and Sephardi Jews, have genetic ties to the Middle East and Mediterranean, with later admixture from European or other regional populations.

There’s also Mizrahi, Ethiopian Jews, etc…

In other words, it’s complicated.

Semites are of the white race.

They are from the Mideast and North Africa. They are not white.

Ok this is kinda the right answer.

Geography does not dictate race.

That’s accurate insomuch as race is a social construct.

You are right about that, but the construct is three races which are generalized by color … black, white and yellow. Semites are white.

Serious question: so Persians and Arabs are white in this construct?

(I’m not disagreeing - I don’t even think my original point was accurate!)
