January 5: The Wuhan Municipal Health Commission put out a statement with updated numbers of cases but repeated, âpreliminary investigations have shown no clear evidence of human-to-human transmission and no medical staff infections.â

January 8: Chinese medical authorities claim to have identified the virus. Those authorities claim and Western media continue to repeat, âthere is no evidence that the new virus is readily spread by humans, which would make it particularly dangerous, and it has not been tied to any deaths.â
The official statement from the World Health Organization declares, âPreliminary identification of a novel virus in a short period of time is a notable achievement and demonstrates Chinaâs increased capacity to manage new outbreaks . . . WHO does not recommend any specific measures for travelers. WHO advises against the application of any travel or trade restrictions on China based on the information currently available.â
January 14: Wuhan city health authorities release another statement declaring, âAmong the close contacts, no related cases were found.â Wuhan doctors have known this was false since early December, from the first victim and his wife, who did not visit the market.
The World Health Organization echoes Chinaâs assessment: âPreliminary investigations conducted by the Chinese authorities have found no clear evidence of human-to-human transmission of the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) identified in Wuhan, China.â

*The virus was here
*The virus spread person to person
*A significant portion of those contracting the virus would require hospitalization and/or intensive care.
Thatâs all the knowledge we needed to know unless we got on top of it in the US, we were in serious troubleâŚif we had thought about it properly.
Now againâŚwhy is China denying the seriousness of the outbreak for a month grounds for huge anger at China, but Trump doing the same thing about the virus here for six weeks just fine?
