Are you under the impression we accomplish much of anything by talking about politics here?
Are you under the impression we accomplish much of anything by talking about politics here?
No, of course not. But that’s a nonsequitor.
W_and_C: Camp:So it was a half assed apology.
The Biden way.
Doocy is happy with it, that’s all that matters. Doocy isn’t a snowflake.
He isn’t fine with it because he got an apology, he’s fine with it because he has a job to do that isn’t served by continuing the argument.
That still counts. I wish more people would do just that.
And tbh, I don’t think he was even offended in the first place.
Biden is fine.
He’ll be around bugging cons for 3 more years.
Sure hope so.
‘22 and ‘24 will be free entertainment
Maybe she was bleeding out of her… whatever.
that wasnt in reference to what you want the media to make everyone think it meant
but when trump doesn’t say enough mean things just make it up
enki:wait… does it go like this…
I think that’s right.
This is incredible that conservatives are trying to parse an apology. Maybe adults being adult is a new phenomena for them.
Yeah, liberals never parse an apology….
I recall there was a long debate about what constitutes an apology when Ingraham “apologized” to Hogg. Let’s take a look at Samantha Bee’s apology compared to Ingraham. First off, Bee apologized the next day when people started complaining. This was before advertisers threatened to leave. Ingraham apologized later, after advertisers threatened to leave. Let’s look at the wording: Ingraham: Any student should be proud of a 4.2 GPA —incl. @DavidHogg111. On reflection, in the spirit of Holy Wee…
Guilds: Mountain_Soldier:Trump couldn’t even do that without you guys throwing a ■■■■ fit.
A functioning democracy requires a functional press. Holding the press accountable is good, and needed. A POTUS Calling the press the “enemy of the people”, is dangerous.
Then again, seems like many on the right are not fans of a democratic republic.
Except every time someone on the right tries to hold the press accountable, you on the left shrug it off, call it nothing, and worse.
Was Dan Rather a dumb son of a bitch?
He kind of proved himself to be, so yes.
Smyrna:…because there are people on both sides of the aisle that respect the office of the presidency and calling someone a son of a bitch, on national television is one of the most despicable things I’ve ever heard a POTUS do. I’d equate it right up there with what Trump said to Senator McCain regarding his time spent in prison in North Viet Nam. It’s ■■■■■■■ despicable.
Sorry, you guys lost that high horse a long time ago.
This won’t hurt Biden politically- it’ll help, if anything.
And what does that say about Democrats?
And what does that say about Democrats?
I dunno. What do the last 5 or so years say about Republicans?
W_and_C: Jezcoe: W_and_C:“Response like this”
So. You’re asking if GG mocked liberals exaggerated response to Trump’s insults while Trump was president ? Yeah, probably.
I doubt he did.
Greenwald was rightfully a Clinton skeptic. Nothing wrong with that. But, imo, his support of Assange gave him a blind spot to seeing how Wikileaks became a clearinghouse for laundering Russian Intel into the public sphere.
The refusal to see what wikileaks started as and what it eventually became as two totally different things broke a lot of people who should know better.
Just my opinion though.
On this particular issue in this thread, all he is doing is mocking the left - and it’s awesome that so many are taking it at face value.
Overall, I don’t think he changed that much. Admittedly I probably don’t know as much about Assange/wikileaks thing as you seem to.
But back around 2005, when Greenwald came onto the political scene it was the political right who were moralizing hypocrites lecturing everyone on how to live their lives. Now things seem to have shifted 180 degrees. A consistent pundit stays exactly where they are while the blue and red pieces shift across the board.
That is a fair enough opinion.
I still think that he is on the grift.
I have been following this conversation, but I am puzzled … exactly what is the grift and who is he pulling it on?
What’s the difference?
I understand your need to be outraged on his behalf, because reasons - but he’s clearly not outraged about it.
Y’all are so certain you know what the rest of the world is thinking. It’s funny.
Biden pledged a return to civility. He promised to fire people in his administration who disrespected others.
This month alone he has called two fox reporters various versions of stupid I clouding his stupid SOB comment to Doocy…prior to that he gave a speech in which he told Americans who did not disagree with him on his voting rights ■■■■■■■■ bill that they were bull Connor or Jefferson davis or George Wallace. The man who pledged unity and the restoration of the soul of the country called half the country again racists.
Doocy is fine, Jackie Heinrich is fine, we are all fine…most of us dont care what clueless says other than to point out his lies and hypocrisy…
Based on his own words a year ago should he not fire himself?
thinkingman: W_and_C:Dunno. To me the difference between “clear the air” and apology is negligible.
Splitting microscopic hairs here.
well i know. the answer is “no” doocy did not reference any apology
you can “clear the air” with an apology. but clearing the air is not an apology. the difference is not “negligible” unless you need to redefine words and language (and reality) to match a narrative.
sounds like two adults got on the phone and talked it out.
pretty decent.
Sounds more like him realizing (or being advised) that it’s stupid to piss off someone who buys ink (metaphorically speaking) by the barrel.
Nobody said “crafty”
Maybe he meant to say “dafty.”
WuWei:Nobody said “crafty”
I did…
Then you picked an argument with yourself.
Of course, that’s the only way you can win, so I guess it all makes sense.
exactly. thank you!
they resort to that nonsense when they flail
zantax:Not outraged in the least, show me where I indicated I was.
If you’re not outraged by it, and Mr. Doocy isn’t outraged by it - then who cares about it?
The American people who took Biden at his word when he said he would restore decency to politics.
Samm:And what does that say about Democrats?
I dunno. What do the last 5 or so years say about Republicans?
You tell me. It’s your story.
The American people who took Biden at his word when he said he would restore decency to politics.
“The American people”
Which half - the half that just watched the opposition drive the Presidency to levels of indecency never seen before - or the half that actively encouraged it?
TheDoctorIsIn: zantax:Not outraged in the least, show me where I indicated I was.
If you’re not outraged by it, and Mr. Doocy isn’t outraged by it - then who cares about it?
The American people who took Biden at his word when he said he would restore decency to politics.
all 81 million of them
… < busts out laughing>
i know i know. hard to believe they think people believe it
I think the gift they are referring to is Joe Biden and the midterm gift.
