Why is democratic socialism bad?

I would rather rely more on a body in which I can vote for a representative than a corporation where unless I have large amounts of capital I have absolutely no influence.

So you are adamantly opposed to Trump giving money to the farmers to help them due to his trade war?

Socialism is great when it’s a trillion dollar military jobs subsidy. It’s evil when it gives poor people basic level goods and services.

That does seem to be the trend.

Go to the shareholders meeting and vote. That counts as much as voting for a government representative.

Look up “business”. Profit is a motivator.

No Cathy Newman. That’s not what I said.

You said a quote that implies government aid is wrong. You feel differently?

What’s the difference between the two, besides your emotions?

No Cathy. Try to keep up. What I said indicates that whatever the government gets involved in they ■■■■ up royally. The FHA caused a lot of family farms out of business. Their attempt to fix healthcare is another example. Their involvement with making college more affordable has been a dismal failure. The No child Left Behind act didn’t. And on and on and on ad infinitum.

The first one is a task designated to the government by the constitution - defense of this country.

The other is not.

Right. So following your logic when Trump says he is going to help farmers hurt by his trade war you agree he is going to **** up royally.

General welfare.

That’s one, but not the one I was thinking of.

No.

Yep, sorry.

Jacobson v. Massachusetts

Also, the clause says “general welfare” of the United States, not individuals.

“A government big enough to give you everything you want is a government big enough to take away everything that you have”
Thomas Jefferson.

Jefferson probably didn’t say that, but it’s true nonetheless.

He did say:

“The natural progress of things is for liberty to yeild, and government to gain ground.”

The spelling of “yeild” is consistent.

Our military is there to protect the American peoples’ inalienable right to pursue their own happiness from those who would invade our borders and cause harm. And we, as the “People of the United States” have agreed to “raise and support Armies” for the purpose so stated.

On the other hand, and with respect to our federal Constitution, we have not delegated a power allowing our federal government to use its taxing authority to directly tax one individual and transfer that revenue to another individual for their personal economic needs. To do so is a violation of our Constitution in addition to using government force in an immoral fashion. One of our forefathers explains this as follows:

"Under a just and equal Government, every individual is entitled to protection in the enjoyment of the whole product of his labor, except such portion of it as is necessary to enable Government to protect the rest; this is given only in consideration of the protection offered. In every bounty, exclusive right, or monopoly, Government violates the stipulation on her part; for, by such a regulation, the product of one man’s labor is transferred to the use and enjoyment of another. The exercise of such a right on the part of Government can be justified on no other principle, than that the whole product of the labor or every individual is the real property of Government, and may be distributed among the several parts of the community by government discretion; such a supposition would directly involve the idea, that every individual in the community is merely a slave and bondsman to Government, who, although he may labor, is not to expect protection in the product of his labor. An authority given to any Government to exercise such a principle, would lead to a complete system of tyranny." ___ See Representative Giles, speaking before Congress February 3rd, 1792

So yes! Using government force to directly tax one individual’s paycheck which is then transferred to another individual for their personal economic needs, is in fact evil, and an immoral use of government force. This is not to say that government cannot be used to help the poor and needy. It merely points out a particular set of circumstances in which government force is used in an immoral and evil fashion and has resulted in a “complete system of tyranny”!

To lay with one hand the power of the government on the property of the citizen [a working person’s earned wage] and with the other to bestow upon favored individuals, to aid private enterprises and build up private fortunes [the Obama/Clinton Administration’s Solyndra, Chevy Volt, Fisker, Exelon swindling deals] is none the less a robbery because it is done under forms of law and called taxation ____ Savings and Loan Association v.Topeka,(1875)
