If you’re wealthy, or from a wealthy background, life is easier for you. You have more options and you get more chances when you screw up.

I definitely don’t have intelligence privilege that’s for damn sure. Just look at my GPA- dropped from a 3.50 with 2 C’s at CC to a 2.84 with several C’s and my first D in my whole undergrad.

I can’t even get a B on a test now lol. I’m so ■■■■■■■

Of course the wealthy also have their own struggles.

For example, mental illness. There are plenty of people from wealthy backgrounds whose lives are miserable due to depression, bipolar disorder, and any other numbers of mental illnesses.

The poor and the rich certainly share that in common. Mental imbalance doesn’t care about wealth.

The problems I see among the wealthy are usually more along the lines of interpersonal relationships, or even ignorance on the subject altogether. I’d guesstimate from spending by now thousands of hours around wealthy people at work, fully half of them could be considered dysfunctional if they got an honest psychological assessment.

The concept of white privilege has been used in the past few years to justify all types of policies, plans and harden the political divisions in this country.

Joe Biden’s recent questioning of “blackness” is, I believe, an example of “democratics privilege” along with Clinton’s “No ways tarred” and the CPT reference in the skit, among others.

Privilege exists, including white privilege. It is not about me as an individual and whether or not “I didn’t build that” (collective privilege). It’s not about race.

It is about the benefit of the doubt. A weighting.

The place it really stands out to me is the American Injustice System. Does the court lend more weight to a cop’s word than mine simply because he has a badge and a costume? Blue privilege.

In this case, charges were filed against a person defending them home from lethal assault.

I believe the charge was automatic because he defended himself from agents of the state. Blue privilege. Now that things are known, charges dropped. Why were they filed before they were known in the first place. Blue privilege.

A wealthy man’s word carries more weight than a poor man’s.

In the context of sexual assault - Woman Privilege. Unless - Democrat Privilege.

If it’s my word against yours. I am white in a suit with my own representation. Does my word get more weight than you in your saggy pants and public defender?

We all like to pretend we make decisions objectively, based on logic formulated from carefully analyzes data with unimpeachable integrity.

We don’t. Confirmation bias is very, very real and more powerful than we care to admit. As is context.

The question was asked in another thread, “Is my history of America the same as yours.” No, it is not.

There are no relevant facts, only context.

So there is no reason to be insulted by the term “privilege”. It exists. The question is, is this particular case because because I am white (unlikely)? Or is it because of culture (much more likely)

If it is my word, in a suit and tie, weighted more than yours in sagging pants and a public defender?

What if you, black man in a suit. I a white thug in sagging pants. Who gets the weight?

The woke cult is irritating in their self loathing. To each their own but I wish they would keep their masochism to themselves in this regard. We all know the history, we know what happened way before we were around was wrong. I also see how one side never wants to move on from that moment in time and will weaponize it literally forever, sorry I will not play that game.

It makes me think of the Germans after WW2 and how generation after generation are told to be ashamed of something they had absolutely nothing to do with since they were not even alive, as if its in their DNA to act like that if not checked.

They even have a word for it in German “Geschichtsmüde“ which translates to “Weary of History”,… I say no thanks to a life like that.

We shouldn’t forget and it should be taught not saying we should forget the past. The shaming and guilt part of it though does not bring people together. I am sure in their hearts they may have good intentions and think this is the way to heal but it is having the opposite effect.

You or me cannot change the skin color we have been born with (unless we were Michael Jackson) but I think as a society we have greatly moved past these events. Western slavery these days is a cubicle pulling 11-13 hour work days in the tech industry. No one wants to own a slave in the west the ideal is repulsive.

This is just my opinion but I think right now is the time for a message of unity among Americans because we are facing a Great Depression, and in bad times bad things happen and despot leaders find and audience out of desperation. I hate to use the Hitler analogy but they would have been no Hitler if it wasn’t for the economic desperation in Germany and the humiliation after WW1. See how those things could repeat as well ‘Economic Depression‘ at the same time telling people they need to feel ‘Ashamed’.

This is so true, and hardily gets talked about on this board beauty standards. I don’t want to (And couldn’t even if one tried) change them, they are what they are and no plus size model on a magazine is going to change that.

I was watching a show where they took a supermodel and she would go shopping with a hidden camera, people were just giving her free food, drinks, and being beyond super nice to her.

You might have seen this then they take the same girl and put her in a fat suit, Hollywood makeup and all to make her look like a 230 pound unattractive female tank and sent her into the same stores. She didn’t get anything free they didn’t treat her special at all she was basically ignored.

Bottom line their is privilege and non privilege everywhere one looks in society, whether it’s class based, skin color, wealth, weight, attractiveness, man/woman it is the way society works.

A poor fat trailer park stinky white man is not going to have the red carpet rolled out for him when he steps into a business more likely he will be eyed at all times thinking he’s going to steal something or asked to leave if acting the least bit suspicious.

This is very true. But it won’t be because of his race
