Just bored of IPAs.
Well, finally a category I can get into: Beer.
We’ve got a great local brewery in town that had so much success, they opened a small restaurant in town and currently under expansion. Yea for small towns.
So my favorites are
- Loomis Basin Brewing Company’s McGowan’s Scottish Ale
- Deschutes Red Chair (seasonal)
- Deschutes Mirror Pond Ale
- Sierra Nevada Pale Ale
- “Jacked” series from LBB. (Porter aged in whiskey barrels, seasonal)
- Anchor Steam
- Deschutes Fresh Squeezed IPA
I think I got them all. Cheers
Me too. My local Brewery makes a Java Porter that is darker than black coffee. It is my favorite of our local brews.
My daughter is a flight attendant and when she goes to Ireland, she always brings me back Jameson.
It’s rare, but some breweries will bust out a good Cream Ale.
It was one of three I brewed for competition.
A good English Mild is worth looking for.
Mother Earth Cali Creamin is a super solid micro brew
I currently have a Saison fermenting away. Some bottles of a Smoked Vanilla Stout that is dessert in a glass and a few bottles left of a barrel aged smoke beer that is just fantastic.
My next hill to climb is conquering the Belgian Blonde style.
Already make a mean Dubble… but I want to be able to make a Blonde where you don’t have to hide behind gimmicks.
Leffe makes a decent Blonde.
I do like Leffe. They are part of the InBev empire… but the beer remains decent.
Ommegang makes a good blonde.
I hope to get my hands on some La Trappe for a gold standard taste to compare.

I don’t get the trend of high hops beer. Using too much hops is like adding too much garlic to foods.

You can buy Jameson here you know. And there are a lot of much better Irish whiskeys too.
Budweiser. When I’m in the mood for a cold one, that’s my go to beer.
I can drink nearly anything that does not contain the letters IPA. Good God. Yuck.
I’m not very hip and I can prove it. I love Sam Adams Boston Lager, Sapporo, Stella and even Bud. I’m not a beer snob. Bud is not everyone’s favorite beer. But do you know why it’s number 1? Because nobody who drinks it finds it to be unpleasant. Anyone can and does enjoy it.
Sam Adams used to be hip, back when they were a micro brewery. But now that they are not, they have been removed from the cool list by the hipsters.
yes, I’m aware, but a few of these she brings back are only sold at the distillery. She’s also brought me back Teelings, which is expensive here.

Try something like Gulden Draak or La Fin Du Monde. You’ll never go back.

I don’t. It’s certainly not the worst beer on the market, but I think it’s wretched.

There is no style of beer I have not tried. And no style of beer that has not been brewed before by ten different breweries.
OK but that reply was to Peek.

Oops. Sorry.
No problem.
