What would our government do differently/better/cheaper if it controlled the entire health care market?

Because private enterprise is so much better.

It seems to work for the prose it was intended… covering retired people. Don’t ā– ā– ā– ā–  that up.

why isn’t anyone suggesting Medicaid for all?

Why can’t the free market cover retired people? Medicaid/Medicare for all, ehh… either is fine with me… a base level of coverage for every American citizen…

Should Medicare be Abolished? No but it could be run more efficiently than it currently is run.
So how is Social Security working out for the Millennials? You do know that it will most likely be bankrupted by the time they are getting it. So again tell me how well the government Manages things?
What about the IRS how it targeted certain groups. How about the post office?
How is that working ?

I don’t have a specific good answer to solve these things. But we know the government is not good at all these things and spends way to much on not the correct things. Look at the States , Cities and Towns that are in the Red. Look at the Gun Violence in Chicago. How is the State and Police in that City doing?

It can. let me keep my SS deductions and I’ll invest it for when I need medical insurance in retirement.

Actually for Healthcare before the Government dictated to the Private Insurances what they MUST do my Insurance was Cheaper and better and had more options. Private Enterprise tends to do better in the long run when competition is allowed. Yes it has its issues but many of you ignore Flint’s water issues when talking about how great government would be at managing something.
How many States and Cities are in the Red financially?
Most Business who are in the red go out of business and something else takes up the slack. What happens to a City or State that keeps loosing money?

If.

Mine was too

You posted an article saying it would look like Canada’s.

And? The article also talked about eliminating private insurance.

I’m pretty sure medicare has a pretty high approval rate, no?

Congratulations on realizing that government isnt like private business.

Yet, thanks to the federal program’s low reimbursement rates, stringent rules and grueling paperwork process, many doctors are refusing to accept Medicare’s payment for services. Case in point: In 2000, nearly 80% of the Texas Medical Association’s doctors were taking new Medicare patients. By 2012, that number dropped to less than 60%.

Why are more and more doctors turning down Medicare? The answer is simple: Medicare typically pays doctors only 80% of what private health insurance pays. While a gap always existed, many physicians feel that in the past several years, Medicare reimbursements haven’t kept pace with inflation (especially the costs of running a medical practice), while the rules and regulations keep getting more onerous, as do penalties for not complying with them.

Yes from getting into the basic market.

Ouch.

Then get a doctor who does. Free market.

So what? I bet we spend more on cars too. And concert tickets, and groceries. When people have more to spend, they spend more. We also have more health problems, obesity for example, that leads to more spending on healthcare too.

People like free stuff, shocker.

The point is that you cannot. MD’s that stick with medicare do so out of charity and are supplemented by the private sector.

Add more beneficiaries and fewer MD’s will put up with the red tape.

But what if you can’t find a doctor in your area to take it?
Some people don’t have options to just find any doctor and many people on Medicare do not have the money to do so.

You claim that government is so great and Medicare is great then why aren’t Drs taking it. Then you suggest free market So which is better Government or Free Market?
