You are not smarter than he is.
Maybe maybe not.
I am not enrobed in wealthy elite entitlement as he most certainly is.
Speaking for myself only, I agree that local schools should be able to control the contents of their own libraries, but the problem arises when they go too far. For example, “Heather Has Two Mommies” is a pretty benign book. It simply acknowledges same sex parents, which is a situation kids are likely to run into at school. Gay marriage is legal, and gay people can adopt children. Yet the book is banned. Why? Dislike of gay people. And that is simply not a sufficient reason to ban a book; rather It is an application of bigotry
Definitely not. Nor more moral.
Oldandtired:Thought you said the book was banned.
It has been taken out of school libraries in many jurisdictions.
I take it if a city were to prevent sales of AR-15’s you would have no problem with that because it still would possible to get it in many other places. Of course you wouldn’t
If an AR-15 isn’t sold at the PTA bake sale, that doesn’t mean ARs are banned.
H_Arendt:If we cannot, then the objections to my claim of a ban aren’t serious, but are just noise trying to swarm a concern about free speech
That’s it right there. Insisting on narrow definitons is an age old debate technique. The books were banned, they know the books were banned, and they also know it’s not a good look. So: poof! Turns out the books weren’t banned after all, because it’s only a ban if the book is removed from both space and time.
Hustler and Playboy aren’t allowed in school libraries.
Is that a banning and thus a violation of the 1st amendment?

That’s good judgment and has nothing to do with the First Amendment.

Ah, a new angle: it isn’t a ban, because bans violate the first amendment.
Weak.
gooddad409: Oldandtired:Maybe the parents and school decided there are better books to read. Now why are you not throwing a fit over all the states and cites that have banned AR15’s. I have not seen you throwing a fit because some of the dr seuss books are no longer in school libraries.
Most woke libs (c) are upset that LGBTQ propaganda books are being pulled from many school libraries.
Books that help poison the minds of children should be pulled imo.

There’s no reason to teach that in schools either.
Schools should be for teaching Math, Reading, writing, etc not the ins and outs of homosexuals.
Teaching about homosexuals and homosexual life is going too far.
The books in the library aren’t about teaching per se; they are there for the kids to read. You know, that thing you are teaching them

Ah, a new angle: it isn’t a ban, because bans violate the first ammendment.
Weak.
Yes your understanding of what is being said is weak.
Ooooo, sick burn champ!
Truth hurts
Truth hurts
I’ll let you know if I ever see some from you.
I suspect I’m going to be just fine.
I see it still hurts. Maybe you could just correct your post and move on.
Start by explaining how this is new.
isn’t a ban, because bans violate the first ammendment.
Ask Steel Wolf, it’s his argument, not mine.
So you can’t explain it surprise surprise yet felt you had to make a stupid comment about it. Class act.

Thanks!
Not teaching them.
