The press is there to make money. The more papers they sell and the more traffic their websites get, the more money that can be charged for advertising. That’s all the press is, a vehicle to sell advertising.
America had always had an atavistic fascination with English royalty, lots of people read those stories , so you get a lot press coverage. If people didn’t read those stories that would show up quickly in their metrics and they would move on to something higher interest.
