By the way, even though I am a conservative, my main news sources are my NYT subscription and NPR. Yes, they are slanted to the left, but they still do good journalism. Never touch cable news.

I’m a big proponent of NPR. I agree there is a leftwards slant but they are reasonable to Republicans, imo.

I stopped watching TV news, including FNC a long time ago. I found out about Tiger Woods during a brief visit to CNBC on-line to see how the markets were doing. I didn’t even click on the story after seeing the headlines. I simply didn’t care, and I still don’t.

Good friend of mine is OG Texan, works for WFT, all of the stereotypes. The other day he starts off “ I was listening to this thing on NPR and…” and I’m like hold up, you were listening to WHAT?

Said he’s tired of the commercials and repetition and shoutiness of AM conservative radio and was looking for something better and that’s what he’s been listening to. Go figure.

Well, your primary sources of info from what you’ve said are somewhat close to that. Public broadcasting doesn’t have the pressure of making money or conflicts of interest with advertisers. The NY Times is off on its highbrow “we’re the NY Times so heres both sides no matter how appropriate or not”, but public broadcasting doesn’t have the profit motive that drives so much of what people complain about the press for.

There’s no splashy graphics or provocatively dressed into babes dripping lip gloss, no chunka chunka bumper music so I guess it looks and feels “liberal” and maybe a little boring but does a much job at informing in depth.

That’s ok as long as there are non-state controlled news outlets. Not ok if state run news is all there is. If you want to know why, learn this countries history. And world history.
