That of course isn’t remotely true either. Most computer repair and services can be done online and if the physical harddrive itself is dead it can be pulled and overnighted to a data recovery specialist.
I’ve had to do this twice in the last couple of decades due to power surges and I overnight them to a specialist near San Antonio. Longest turnaround so far has been 72 hours and that was on one she had to tear apart and go over with a microscope.

As for “smarter”, it could be an issue of less single female headed households in the northeastern states.
Being raised in such a household can interfere with educational opportunities, forvexample, that parent may have less time to be involved in their child’s education.

For people who would rather just drive down the road to a local plaza and get it looked at, the specialist has an incentive to move in and meet that demand.
There are many reasons. I’ve been coming here in the winter for decades and full time for six years. I’m pretty familiar with the history.
There isn’t enough business in small towns or rural America for that kind of business to survive because the volume doesn’t exist unless most of their clientele is online.
If it was a cesspool, people wouldn’t move there. The truth is, those moving…are leaving the cesspool they helped create and instead of fixing it, they’re cowards and are running away.

I met a fellow when we moved to Texas from Oregon…he jokingly asked if I left Oregon’s screwed up politics there when I moved…I told him Texas was safe from me…
But I will never understand the stupidity of moving from California or New York or Oregon to Texas or Florida or South Dakota and then trying to turn those states into the nightmare you left???

Maybe they did & the same D lever that always gets pulled won & is still in power to mess the place up.
Who says they messed it up? Maybe they’re conservatives who are tired of the nonsense & of being in the ideological minority & want to be around more like minded people—not to mention get out of being taxed to death.

In the end, liberal and conservative majority states are like Athens and Sparta when the Persian Empire wasn’t a threat.
Their majorities are of two different schools of thought, & neither school of thought can stand the other.
Maybe it’s because I live in a swing state, but I have conservative friends and I have liberal friends and neither care that I also have friends on the “other” side.

In the cities here, the dominant population doesn’t take too kindly to those who think the opposite—particularly if the opposite is from one of the southeastern states.
They’re not as bad in the rural communities.
City folk to rural folk “Keep growing food for us and making our gas and stay there while we talk ■■■■ about you”.
Rural folk to city folk “Keep making our stuff for us, but don’t come here…stay there while we talk ■■■■ about you”.
Sounds about right…
