I haven’t seen any threads started by city folk about how rural folk should stay where they’re from. For the most part city folk are very welcoming to newcomers.

I keep hearing this claim of “making stuff” in the city. What is made in NYC? Los Angeles?
Not really. Look in any fast growing area of Texas and what businesses that are being built and opening. Mostly national chains.
When the Eagle Ford shake was going great guns, I spent a lot of time in S. Texas, like all rural areas that was slowly dying off because of population exodus. I was like well maybe this oil boom will help bring more jobs and vitality to these small towns.
Nah. Anybody who has any snap to ‘em leaves the cities and for the most part new businesses being built were national chains, and the locals resented the intrusion and wanted everybody to go away. Can’t krep em on the farm.
Los Angeles is the largest manufacturing base in the entire country. You name it and it’s made there.

Food, clothing, textiles, and furniture are some of the many things manufactured within the New York City environs.
Manufacturing jobs in the NYC are have been growing the last decade.

People are not moving here or to Montana because we need them to give us services. Texas has the 4th, 7th and 9th largest cities in the country. If for some odd reason we need big city crap, it’s right down the road.
In Montana, if they need it, they may have to wait an extra day, but it will show up. Billings isn’t a poor house.
The truth of the matter is the crap that comes out of cities is either unnecessary or can be ordered on line.
Those people are fleeing from, not moving to “help us”. They are a plague seeking new hosts because they have killed what is behind them.
The so called “population exodus” is moving 20 miles. And the cities are meeting them halfway.

I agree that it is in abundance in Los Angeles, I don’t know if it is actually manufactured there …

Person that complains about cultural contamination pretends to know everything about a culture which he despises.
Irony abounds.

I think we all need to get out more. Apparently we don’t even know anything about our own Nations. Sad.

Your culture is not hard to figure out, I’ve been watching it my entire adult life. I’ve lived in the city. Still recovering.

Don’t need to know. Just order it online.
All of that technology that allows for that sprung forth from the head of Zeus one day.

I must confess to a little bit of disappointment.
I thought for sure there would have been some galt’s gulch like posts by now.
Or at least posts about how nothing made after 1900 is needed anyway.
