The Republican Party post Trump?

Wow, such virtuous soapbox ranting.

I haven’t been a Republican since W. Bush decided to invade Iraq. But I’ve been a conservative all along. And yes, prior to Trump, I’ve voted straight R up and down the ballot all along. I just no longer financially supported them or worked to elect them. Which I had gladly done since the Goldwater days.

I’m hopeful that the GOP returns to its conservatives roots. But it seems like it may extend well past Trumpism.

I don’t believe he was ever a republican. Same with all the ones on here saying they was republicans & are presently conservatives.

A conservative never votes for a leftist, ever, especially in a time like this when our freedoms are in peril.

That’s funny.

Let me add in the edit:

A conservative would’ve voted third party.

Or…would have voted to preserve our freedoms when an obvious socialist insurgency is before us

Trumpism was only the symptom of a greater malady - the disease was years of Republican capitulation to the unfettered march of the progressive movement in the Democratic party. If it hadn’t been Trump, another would have eventually filled the same disruptor role. I suspect that people like you and me are fairly close ideologically, but perceive the seriousness of that threat differently. There was never going to be any “heal the nation” effort, nor any attempts at actual policy debates once a President Harris administration is sworn in. They’ll go right back to steamrolling the nation as soon as they have the numbers to do so, which is why any vote for them to restore civility was always futile.

Tried that four years ago and got Trump. He is destroying the institutions that made this country great and his acolytes are blind to it. We CAN’T do worse than him.

Oh, the hyperbole!

Couldn’t be because of the way you treated trump supporters?
No way.
Seems some people can’t see the forest for the trees.
Right here you call conservatives who believe a little different from you sick. Than you can’t help but double down and call conservatives who have different idea’s than you without principles. It’s funny witness you wanting to deny what you are.

Who says the conservative party needs people who believe they are the sole voice of the conservative party and everyone in the party needs to walk lock step with them?
My conservative party believes in diversity of idea’s and people. I enjoy new idea’s and new ways of getting things done.
I have probably been with the conservative party a lot longer than you and I see people trying to bring the party back to the conservative party of reagan.
The trump supporters how done a great thing they have exposed the people in office who were just there to get along and not get anything done.

Ever used the term “RINO”?

Sure there are many of them who post here and call themselves true conservatives.

Irony is dead.

What conservative principle of yours drove you to vote for Joe Biden?

What exactly is Trumpism? What agenda, vision and/or policies would you like to see?

True, but that’s nothing compared to what’s coming for what used to be the dem party.

Every time I try to make that point it’s ignored, which is probably the consequence of years of Trump drowning out all other voices in the room.
