Good for him per the constitution, if the President is tried the chief justice shall preside. Which is also why anyone else presiding would make it illegitimate. And if they convict and bar him from office that way, the court will overturn them.
They expressly protected the press to keep it independent. They knew the importance of the free press, even though they hated the press. (Much like today’s pols)
It is conservative SCOTUS justices that claimed money=speech and corporations equate to living persons. Starting in the 70’s, championed by Lewis Powell.
Might want to do some reading, because early US newspapers were all about partisan politics masquerading as news.

The editor, usually reflecting the sentiment of a group or a faction, began to emerge as a distinct power. He closely followed the drift of events and expressed vigorous opinions. But as yet the principal discussions were contributed not by the editors but by “the master minds of the country.” The growing importance of the newspaper was shown in the discussions preceding the Federal Convention, and notably in the countrywide debate on the adoption of the Constitution, in which the newspaper largely displaced the pamphlet. When Alexander Hamilton, James Madison, and John Jay united to produce the Federalist Essays, they chose to publish them in The Independent Journal and The Daily Advertiser, from which they were copied by practically every paper in America long before they were made into a book.
When the first Congress assembled March 4, 1789, the administration felt the need of a paper, and, under the influence of Hamilton, John Fenno issued at New York, April 15, the first number of The Gazette of the United States, the earliest of a series of administration organs. The editorship of the Gazette later fell to Joseph Dennie, who had previously made a success of The Farmer’s Weekly Museum and would later found The Port Folio, two of the most successful newspapers of the era.[20] The seat of government became the journalistic center of the country, and as long as party politics remained the staple news interest the administration organs and their opponents were the chief sources of news for the papers of the country. It may not be yours, but my own definition of Far Left are those who not only think individuals and families cannot make it on their own, they make sure they cannot. The far left are parasites who live off their host; their enemy are those who refuse to be enslaved by their host. No slaves, no one “feeding” and “caring” for that host so that the parasites might survive.
Family story: Grandfather 1: Began earning a man’s wage and supported himself beginning at age 13. High school graduate. Grandmother 1: Took over running the dairy part of the family farm, supporting herself from age 13. High school graduate Dairy was sold when she married and moved to another state. Grandfather 2: High school graduate; self taught in fixing anything that needed fix. Began supporting himself by late teens. Grandmother 2: Put herself through college, while earning money caring for others. When she married my grandfather, it was she who staked him the money to build his own shop. None were fans of big government. (Nothing like grandparent influences to form a young mind. )
