Starting to See Why Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez So Frightens Conservatives

#1355

Okay, this is hilarious. The VERY first order of business once you get through all that wherefores and whatnots is……………….wait for it……………………

(A) to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions through a fair and just transition for all communities and workers;

#1356

Net zero is extremely important.

Biofuels can supply energy which is otherwise out of reach.

#1357

An acre of algae can provide 300 times as much ethanol as an acre of corn.

#1358

As long as it’s within ten years, of course.

Are we a country that dreams big and does great things or do we sit around sniping at people because…

When John Kennedy said we would get to the Moon in a decade… we did not know how to do it. There was a lively debate about the best way to tackle the mission.

I’m assuming you all would have just came up with all the reasons why it was a bad idea because he was a Democrat.

Make America Great Again by remembering we are a country that does great things. No one ever did anything great by carping about words.

The Green New Deal says we can re-construct our economy in the face of environmental disaster. For forty years, Americans are telling pollsters increasingly that the country is moving in the wrong direction. I read the last forty posts as one big “WE WANT NOTHING TO CHANGE AROUND HERE”.

That’s not what has ever made America great!

#1360

Gotcha. So only Democrats have great ideas. Got it.

You buy AOC totally twisting what Falwell said. First she said this was about Falwell wanting to kill Muslims just this past weekend, she says he said:

I always thought that if more good people had concealed carry permits, then we could end these Muslims before they [unintelligible],’” Ocasio-Cortez wrote alongside the retweeted video. “This was just this weekend at CPAC, the conference attended by the President and members, to 1000s. Where’s the resolution against Islamophobia?”

Trying to use this against Falwell to defend her friend, who backs the murderer Maduro, anti-Semitism. Anyway, what Falwell said was three years, prior, righjt after the Islamist terror attacks when he said:

But Falwell fired back at the congresswoman, labeling her “dumb” and “a liar.”

“She claims this was @CPAC last week when it was actually in 2015 the day after the deadly CA attacks by radical Muslims (‘those’ Muslims I referenced) She also deleted the last part of my quote ‘before they walk in and kill us,’” he tweeted in response.

Here is her other charge against Falwell, that he threatened to shoot her, about her idiotic comments oh Falwell threatened to shoot me, poor me, and a liberal lap dog tagging him as Nugent threatening to shoot somebody, here it is in context:

The clip began with Falwell remarking that his “boys always had guns in their hands.”

“That’s not something you teach them, that’s something they’re born with,” he said. “But as far as those cows you mentioned, I’ve got a hundred cows … you just let Alexandria Cortez show up at my house and try to take my cows away.”

In response, Ocasio-Cortez sarcastically branded the remarks as being permissible.

“Cool cool - this is fine, totally acceptable and normal rhetoric; legitimized by the presence of members of Congress and the President,” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted. “Let me guess: no apology is necessary here, because they’ve simply been ‘misunderstood.’”

Falwell condemned the post as “another lie” and insisted that he hadn’t threatened her.

“Never threatened anyone, only promised to keep my cows!” he tweeted. “You people are nuts!”

She twists peoples statements to get her sympathies, while defending the Maduro loving Omar who time after time has made anti-Semitic remarks, and refuses to apologize for it. She diverts it away from that by falsely manufacturing stories about other people and say a woe is me, so ignore my colleagues blatant anti-Semitism even recognized by Democrats Eliot Engels, and Nita Lowey.

again this is what she originally proposed: https://www.scribd.com/document/399182602/Green-New-Deal-FAQ#from_embed
What is proposed now is way below what she originally wanted to offer. I’ve done this several times on this trhead, but I’ll do it again, this is what she herself originally wanted:

Here are her words:

IPCC report says that global emissions must be cut by by 70-80% by 2030. US is 20% of global emissions. We must get to zero by 2030 and lead the World in a global green new deal.

Her words:

Yes, we are calling for a full transition off fossil fuels and zero greenhouse gases.
Her words
Move America to 100% clean and renewable energy

Her words, in 12 years we must, her words must. What she wants then, in 12 years, no cars. She says US has 20% of global emissions (incorrect only 15%), and we must go to zero. She says nothing about China which has double our emissions. How is she going to get China to get to zero emission, since their emission is double ours? So this is AOCs plan, the one actually proposed is way off her goal, which of course also included giving pay to people who don’t work, and she did recognize we can’t get rid of planes that fast and farting cows, but eventually get rid of the planes and farting cows:. All the while ignoring the fact that the best energy that we have that has actually helped our emissions way, way more than any solar energy, was natural gas, which she somehow totally ignores. Natural gas, which gives zero emission supplies 34 percent of the energy, which she frowns upon.

General Disarray

Trump was speaking at a private Mar-a-Lago fundraiser that took place not long after China’s President Xi Jinping successfully repealed that nation’s term limits law. “He’s now president for life,” said Trump. “President for life. No, he’s great. And look, he was able to do that. I think it’s great. Maybe we’ll have to give that a shot someday.”

A couple of clients of mine are big time corn/Soybean growers in Indiana. They love travelling to Hawaii on subsidy cheese money

#1366

Conservatism has always opposed innovation, resistance to change is one of their bedrock principles.

#1367

Say it ain’t so!

#1368

Typical. Instead of engaging you reply by distorting. Why do you bother?

#1369

I recognize your point, but then you have to conclude that the modern version of conservatism is opposed to capitalism.

#1370

Have Democrats ever gotten solidly behind republican ideas?

#1371

Of course they have.

The Affordable Care Act was based on the conservative Heritage Foundation’s solution to Healthcare. Obama chose the Republican solution as a way to be bi-partisan. By rejecting this overture, Republicans created the current mess in which they have no alternative healthcare plan because Obama already used the Republican Plan.

In the 1960’s the Republican Party was almost unanimous in it support of Civil Rights legislation while the Democratic Party was split between its Southern wing, which opposed integration and the remainder of the party which aligned with the Republicans.

Democrats gave broad support to President Nixon’s agenda, for example his pioneering work on environmental protection.

Bill Clinton channeled Ronald Reagan when he announced “the era of big government is over.”

The “never to be broached” fissure between the parties was a creation of the Conservative Entertainment Complex and Newt Gingrich’s House of Representatives.

If we are to make America Great Again it would be good to return to the era in which the parties did not treat each other as mortal enemies or objects of mockery

#1372

It seems that the push leftward in climate change is starting pull some Republicans along.

#1373

How can you say that?

#1374

How can I say that you ask.

Because I have watched conservatives on this thread cheer at the troubles of Tesla. Because I have watched conservatives treat the efforts to create the next sources of energy as a farce rather than as the basis of economic renewal. Because opposition to change has morphed into festishizing the economy as it is and mocking the notion of innovation… All the “How could there be a plane?” or “How can I take a train to Hawaii” posts.

Capitalism thrives on innovation and treating innovation as a form of political opposition, that is opposition to capitalism. The Democratic Socialists around here seem more committed to capitalism than the Trump supporters. I don’t mean who says “I’m a capitalist”. I mean who acts like it!
