Russian Jet downs American drone over international waters in the Black Sea

A drone flying without an operating transponder is a hazard to other aircraft, especially in a war zone.

It was an airforce drone ya know. Im not sure if it was visible to flightradar 24 though.

This one was.

Plus itnoperates obove 50,000 feet. There arent commercial aircraft in the area flying that high.

According to available data, there was a second drone that flying nearby at the same time.

See video at 10:00 and 17:10

Not much of a danger to other aircraft at 50-55,000 feet.

Right on que comrad. Putin will be proud!!

Every group foresees it and plans it for their gullible shèep

Do you have actual information on the flight altitude of the drone over the Black Sea?

Or this that just a guess?

Kind of what STODR said…that and fuel…at least with the drones.

The Pentagon released a video showing a Russian jet dumping fuel on the drone, but I see no evidence of the alleged collision between the jet and the drone’s propeller.

It is possible that the jet fuel stalled the drone’s engine, and there was no collision.

And just what justification do you have from your handlers for them doing anything but confirming the identity of the drone and escorting it.? It was a marked drone and a well known US Air Force platform. Plus the Russians were pretty stupid, since they know our drones have real time video links to the control station. They crossed the line the moment they took offensive action against the drone in international air space. And yes, intentionally dropping jet fuel on the drone was an offensive act.

Sending a drone into a war zone is arguably an offensive act as well.

The US has bragged about sending real-time targeting information to attack Russian ships with NATO-supplied missiles. The drone is not there to survey fish populations.

Heh. Good one.

I think this is a good point. Lord knows that faced with a similar situation, the US would have no compunction about bringing the drone down.

The spraying of fuel is a practice to fog the drones camera lenses. The video clearly shows the Russian jet collision with the drone propeller.
The pilot is an ■■■■■■■■ He could have easily caused enough damage to his own aircraft to lose control and crash himself. The Russkies would lose their collective Vodka soaked minds.

Please post a screen shot of the alleged collision.

The US has bragged about sending targeting information to sink Russian ships. The American drone is a clear threat to Russian forces.

The Russians succeeded in forcing the aircraft down without firing a missile. If only the Iranian passenger liner had been so fortunate.

Active war zone very nearby, an intrusion by an actor hiding behind the pretext of non involvement, who’d a thunk something might happen.
ETA that turning off the transponder thing seems like it is an intentional attempt to draw a response.

I’m just going to say it. For all practical purpose…that drone was Ukrainian spy/information drone.

It’s what happens when you get involved in territory dispute.

Unintended consequences.
