'Rona Relief Bill 2

cruelty is the point. that is the only logical assumption. people in desperate need of food and shelter are probably not going to take the time to walk to one of the few polling places open or be able to receive the ballot they request since they dont have an address anymore

The GOP is sputtering in this issue.

The Republicans don’t understand UE or something else is going on.

They keep harping on this “disincentive to work” bull ■■■■■ Do they really not understand?

If your employer calls you to come back to work and you don’t go, all UE gets cut off. They only way that doesn’t happen is if the employer doesn’t report it.

And. And. You only get the $600 if you are getting the state normal UE.

They’re as bad as the dems.

Hanlon’s Razor.

I agree with all of the above here. It’s pretty mind-boggling this is where we are on this issue. They need to get their crap together yesterday on this.

They just don’t get it.

They focus on the flat rate of $600 a week and think that everyone on UE is making out.

Take for example the 10’s of thousands of people laid off by airlines. The average salary for an aircraft maintainer is about $73,000 per year. That’s $1400 per week, even with state UE adding to Fed UE that only brings them up to the $850-900 range. Those people are not making money on the deal.

Exactly. Most in leisure and hospitality, which has been decimated, make substantially more than that as well monthly.

I suppose you have some in the industries that are tip-heavy that could be making more on this UE at times than they made while working. But bars and restaurants are closed or not receiving near the quantity of people in them to support their minimal wages, so they largely have no job to return to right now anyway.

The whole thing is unconscionable.

The Enhanced UE keeps people from even needing to look for another job.

They don’t need to look for another job. They need their jobs to open up.

Many of them never will open up again.

Without the extra 600.00 there’s a much bigger incentive to find some kind of work until they do or instead.

Jobless claims up second week in a row. We’ll see another huge spike from this week as PPP runs out.

People saying “go find another job” are clearly ignoring the reality of what is happening.

Checks in the mail in a few weeks though.

There are not a bunch of “jobs” out there just waiting to be filled. It is insane that people don’t understand this. The GOP most of all. Dragging their feet while the economy spirals out of control.

But Someone who is making half of minimum wage could maybe get almost survivable wage oh nooes!

So the guy in the apartment above the garage keeps telling me. That’s why my work’s accounts receivable keeps hearing. The clients keep saying they’ll hire us as soon as they get those checks.

So because of all that I couldn’t make that promise to my crew that their check was in the mail for the first time ever, and we’re shut down until mid August, unless that project cancels/delays too.

All my irons are out of the fire now. Essential business wit no business. But ya my guy who can weld upside down while rappelling is going to go learn to code.

If anyone understands this all, it would be you, giving your line of work. It is insanity!

It’s coming. Watch McConnell after Trump’s delay tweet.

If he’s as savy as we all imagine he is, this is his moment. He’s got the cover of Trump’s insanity, and the horrible job and GDP numbers.

We’re in a worse spot than we were in March imo. I want to believe McConnell can see that and at the very least has the political acumen to capitalize on it.

I hope you are right. But it sounds as of this morning that they are no closer to an agreement within the GOP caucus than they were yesterday evening. Which was really, really far apart on some key issues.

Update: Republicans in the Senate fail to pass the HEALS Act, their counter proposal to the HEROES Act.
