I had no idea increased membership was the only way to increase funding. Is there a per-head fee they charge for political purposes or is it a matter of donations that can decrease or increase based on the motivation of their membership to donate? I think we know which one.

This was under the area of review given to Mueller, who has completed a two year investigation. Most likely, the Dems just want to keep rehashing the investigation for the 2020 election.
There is some vague talk about “additional information”, but no specifics are given in the article. You don’t reopen something that has been thoroughly investigated just because some journalist has a new guess.

Didn’t Mueller and the already FBI look into this? It was reported they did. Hasn’t it already been investigated? What did they find?
Where was this reported? It was not covered in Mueller’s Report.

This isn’t the “hell of it.” This is a Russian spy who pled guilty while acknowledging her interactions with the NRA. That’s the opposite of the “hell of it.”

She was under investigation by the FBI at least as far back as August 2016.
You can find articles about her purported connections to the NRA at least as far back as the summer of 2018.
Russian interference in our elections was part of what Mueller was supposed to look at.
Now that the FBI has completed their investigation Dems want the FEC of all groups to reopen the investigation?
And on the pretense that her pleading guilty in April 2019 brought something new to light. Heck, she plead guilty because the FBI knows all about what she did.
