No kidding. It’s unbelievable that we will see over 300,000+ Americans die this year alone from this pandemic and there are still people claiming this is the best that could’ve been done. Never mind the fact they are doing it in Donald Trump’s defense, of all people.

Exactly. We are not alone in some vacuum here. This has impacted the entire globe. And we are demonstrably worse than any other nation in our handling of this crisis. Both when it comes to cases and deaths, along with the economic devastation.
No. Wearing a mask is not authoritarianism. Forcing people to wear a mask and punishing those who don’t is authoritarianism, especially when such enforcement is targeted only to certain groups.
Great questions. When you answer these for yourself then you will understand just how abysmal Trump’s leadership as the Chief Executive has been. The buck stops with him.
And seemingly the only way to make it all better for the President to make excuses for the failures and not hold him to account.

Pretty much nobody’s being punished for failure to comply, and for sure no particular group is being targeted…except in people’s fever dreams.
Amazing how easy it is to get those who are self-styled “protectors against authoritarianism” to focus on truly irrelevant things while real strides towards authoritarianism proceed apace without comment from these same self-styled protectors…and sometimes with full-throated enthusiasm.
Feds seizing peaceful protesters off the street- meh

Forcing people to adhere to basic traffic laws and punishing those who don’t is authoritarianism. You don’t like stop lights? Run them when they are red. Down with authoritarianism!
Many community “leaders” have called for mask wearing to be mandatory, with those refusing to do so being punished. Many law enforcement officers have refused to enforce such orders and they should. And yes, some groups, such as Christians, are being targeted for non compliance while other groups, like BLM and Antifa are being encouraged to continue their non compliance. You would know this if you ever tuned your TV to a non mainstream media channel.
