The federal government could have kept the pair in jail, but Unger’s calls to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service - which would be the federal agency to bring charges against someone for violating the 1940 Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act - have gone unanswered.
The Eagle may be off the endangered species list but that wouldn’t last very long if it was legal to hunt them. So it’s not just about symbolism. They are slow breeders, can’t sustain hunting them.
I don’t disagree. I don’t care if they’re endangered or not though. They are to be protected, especially from burro hats that don’t belong here in the first place.
