Ok to kill Bald Eagles if you’re an illegal?

Killing for food certainly is a reason; same as would be killing a deer.

Well…they were endangered for a while

True. Maybe time to rethink the act now ?

Why? They can’t be yummy.

And then not prosecuted.

It’s been a week. Calm down.

Deer are not endangered species.

I’m also guessing they had no idea what a bald eagle was, or that it was protected.

Not an excuse, and they’ve been charged, with a misdemeanor and I suspect the feds will charge them too.

First offense is a misdemeanor, with up to a year in prison and $100,000 fine.

That’s the issue. Feds aren’t even responding much less charging.

Seems like it. Police were sent to investigate a “suspicious” vehicle. The two men then explained they shot a vulture, when asked to see the culture, the cops noticed it was a bald eagle.

If they knew what they were doing was illegal, I don’t think they would have volunteered that they had shot a bird.

Ignorance is no excuse though.

For survival purposes? Yes.

Neither are bald eagles.

Let’s see that in a statute.

I’m guessing no one watches all the game warden shows. It is basically killing the King’s deer.

I did not know that. I thought they were. Thanks

They are doing quite well in PA. We have a supplemental state funded feeding program called trout stocking.

Killing it is illegal. The issue at hand is if an American did that, they’d be fined and put in prison but because they are illegals they got treated with kid gloves. They should have been immediately deported.

It is outrageous that an illegal in this country doesn’t have to obey the same laws that you and I do.

Tell me, how an illegal who can’t afford to feed himself can afford an air gun like this? Especially when there are food banks everywhere?

I highly doubt they were going to eat it. I think they were going to sell it on the black market so someone could stuff it and put in their trophy collection. It probably isn’t the first time they’ve done it nor the last.

For example beans and rice are around eighty cents per serving.
