There are no Sexually explicit books and porn in school libraries. Well, unless even mentioning sex = explicit…then there may be…but many are classics.
The article I shared seems to indicated Fleming himself had edits to these books before he died. I’m not sure it was the impetus but it may have played a roll. The James Bond IP is worth billions of dollars, they probably wanted to clean it up to ensure future money still rolls in.
If that is true and they stuck to his inputsp then no foul. But my guess (being in England where you can be arrested for saying the wrong thing) they tried to interpret what he was thinking and did it for him. An Iiterpetation would most likly lean in the direction of the beliefs of the people doing the interpeting.
Selecting what books should be in schools and available to children is not remotely book banning. There are millions of books. Obviously schools can’t house them all so choices need to be made out of necessity.
Besides, many of today’s lib-educated writers and editors can’t spell, do grammar, punctuate, or employ much more than juvenile vocabulary. The rewrites aren’t going to be worth the time to read, never mind the money to buy the new version.
“Any communication which is threatening or abusive, and is intended to harass, alarm, or distress someone is forbidden. The penalties for hate speech include fines, imprisonment, or both.”
“Being offensive is an offence in Britain. Under the Communications Act of 2003 anyone sending a “grossly offensive” or “indecent” message, whether in a tweet or on WhatsApp, can face jail”
Now tell,us, can you or can you not be arrested for saying certain things in England exactly like I said. Or is this one of those nuanses we don’t understand?
Then you have this lady arrested for quietly praying.
