You seem convinced the senate doesn’t have the votes for a veto override if they pass the house bill. How do you know that?

And we will do something later will not be tolerated any more. The left have no one to blame but themselves. They have lied one to many times and not done what they have promised too many times. So they should not be believed this time. There can be no deal until the democrats are ready to come to the table and make a deal that they are willing fund now, not later now.
This problem was suppose to be solved in the 80’s when the left got their amnesty, but the left got what they wanted and lied to us about stopping illegal entry into the US.
There are no hostages that is a leftist talking point. The people who are affected are free to find employment somewhere else. They don’t have to wait for the shutdown to be over.

It is impossible for any deal to be made to build a wall that can’t be overturned by the next congress. That’s not how appropriations work…

Trump declaring an emergency in an attempt to bypass Congress to then take the money from other federal programs doesn’t immediately open the government. That would still take appropriations to be passed by the House and Senate and signed by the President. Or vetoed and then over-ridden by Congress.
His declaring an emergency does not create a new pot of money, nor open the government. It simply gives him access to appropriations that have already been signed for the limited purpose for which he declared the emergency.
