Mexico Blinks. Winning!

Without enforcement. Let’s see what happens.

That is because the legal battle over deportation of Asylum seekers is still going though legal drama with federal judges saying the government can’t deport them.

That’s called integrity. :+1:

US wanted them to seek asylum with Mexican goverment but they refused. They can seek asylum to American from Mexico.

US officials pressed Mexico to change its asylum policy by entering into a “safe third country” agreement with the US. Mexico had rejected those offers in the past, but US officials said Mexico was more open to some version of this idea in talks on Thursday. The goal was to require Central American migrants to face asylum proceedings in Mexico or the first country they cross through, rather than in the US.

So we didn’t get everything we asked for, but most of it.

Now the question is will Mexico hold up their end of bargain?

I don’t see any repercussions if they don’t…maybe that’s in fine print.

Could just be a threat of what could happen @JayJay is right. Have to see but could be a good thing.

Can they? at some point those industries are going to relocate to Veitnqam or other SE Asian nations.

At that point China may not be able to stop the flow.

Yes all we have is the joint declaration which isn’t going to say much about enforcement.

In fact this is all it has:

Action

Its a non binding agreement the repercussion is Tariffs, Sanction, etc

This is a public acknowledgement of their role in the crisis, something Mexico has been very much refuses to give.

There is this thing called the Internet …

They can outlast us.

They’ve been prepping to outlast us for some time…especially in the critical area of raw materials for electronics and energy.

Yeah…that’s the problem. Only congress can really do that. And congress under democrats aren’t going to do ■■■■ for Trump administration.

There is a major difference between signed binding legal agreement and non binding agreement one require ratification in most countries.

Let me ask without afore thought DACA mixed with this treaty.

What do you think?

And you believed it lock, stock, and barrel because Trrump and his admin said so? Me thinks you havent been paying attention to American politics for like 6 decades, much less Mexico politics.

So quick to assume something is true because it was fed to you, not skeptical enough to discern it.

News flash, you are being played, it’s what politicians do

Which is why Trump was smart to due this via non-binding joint agreement it remove Congressional approval and allow WH to issue punishment Mexico if they see fit (Tariffs, etc)

the biggest win here is Mexico publicly acknowledging their role in this crisis.
now Trump need to win the legal battle to deport Asylum seekers.

So it’s based on good faith agreement.

That and our debt which they own. They’d never threaten since we are their biggest purchasers but it’s a nice problem to have.

You wouldn’t trust Trump if he said you were a genius.

Will see. I think the biggest era Trump made is not enlisting Europeans in this fight. After all they have as much at stake as we do.

Yes pretty much now Trump need to win a few key legal battles in the courts to issue mass deportations.

This was a very smart move by Trump
