Meanwhile libs elites are coming into your home near you

Nope, my wife had 1 procedure and 1 surgery that required her to be tested and I was required to take 1 to attend college.

Nope and nope. This was initially at the very start of this nightmare and a few times after. They were supposed to come back for a plumbing issue when we called we were advised 1 of the guys was exposed and they were shutting down until all were tested.

They are not strangers to us, they have done quite a bit of work for us and we trust them.

Never exposed to anything from their team and they proved to us that they will do what is needed to protect both their team and customers. They may be wearing masks now, we are waiting on them to get caught up and get back to us.

Well- exactly. Why are you?

If you called a different way olumber or say had to have an electrician make an emergency visit tomorrow, would you expect them to wear a mask and would you?

I felt bad that I reported a plumber for showing up and not wearing a mask. But I did, more out of concern for the business owner than myself. Since I was masked and it was a short visit.

Two more questions -

  • This was a project at the beginning of the pandemic, and they haven’t been back yet? are they still shut down?

  • So you realize that while you were allowing them into the house no masks, and you not wearing masks as well, someone on their team got exposed to covid. Could have easily jumped into your household. Does that make you think masks would be prudent next time?

You wearing gate mask did more to protect him from you than the other way around.

I would not have let him in, and as a business owner in the home improvement industry, I say thank you for reporting him I would want to know right away the minute my team members weren’t complying with our - and the state’s we work in - policy.

Well he’s in rural King Co. so maybe it’s outhouses? :man_shrugging:

I let him in but kept social distance and like I said, I knew it would be a short visit, we also weren’t in the red at the time. Most of the time he was in the house, five minutes or so, we were on different floors, so I believe the risk was pretty low.

And I have owned businesses over the years so I knew the owner, if he had any sense, would really want to know.

It’s pretty discoursing how many homes I’ve been in inthe last month where I have to ask the client to put a mask on before I come inside.

Feel bad? Serves him right the selfish pig. I hope he lost his job. Too bad we couldn’t shock him too.

Well done.

No, they are counting on good citizens to report bad citizens.

They will probably use it as an add on charge as well.

Too many cars in front of the house is reasonable suspicion.

A week ago I had a local carpenter come replace a rotted jamb and brickmould on the side door of my garage. While he worked we talked baseball (he’s a huge Braves fan, Dodgers for me) and neither of us wore masks. The really scary part: when he arrived we shook hands and when he left we shook hands. Terrifying I know.

I don’t know what business you operate, but if you said that to me or tried to do a fist bump when I went to shake your hand I’d send you packing.

One of my carpenters developed Covid from a side job he was working at night with another guy. Neither wore masks, neither socially distant. He’s been out three weeks. Thankfully while working for us, everyone was masked.

His carelessness is costing him his health, and cost my company 2 weeks of income as we had to shut down for 14 days while the rest of the team quarantined and got tested.

I find you story to be remarkably similar to the cavalier approach my employee took to safety that cost us all dearly.

I would expect AND ask if they have been recently tested first. As far as the mask for the electrician or plumber, if their company requires it fine, if they ask that the homeowner wears one fine. I am not going to demand they wear one.

What state do you live in? Regional experiences definitely shape attitudes toward Covid.

I don’t shake hands. Never cared for the custom and now I have all the excuse I need to never do it again.

Not doing that stupid fist or elbow thing either.

You going to fire him?

That’s shocking.

You know these people are in tons of houses all week, and you had a company that had to shut down from exposure. Our industry is aboslutley ripe for Covid, between shoulder to shoulder working with others, including other crews we can’t control, and multiple interfaces with clients and households.

Plus, most companies in my experience don’t take contact quaraniting as seriously as your plumbing firm did. Tons of people are still on the job after exposure.

The last person you want in your house without a mask is a tradesperson.
