Legalizing All Illegal Drugs

Where in the Constitution does it ban drugs?
States are free to choose what substance they ban or don’t ban.

Everyone is for small government till it comes to something they don’t like.

Everything in the Constitution is under “purview” by branches of our government.

Read up on “The Supremacy Clause”.

States can also be cut off from all federal Drug Enforcement and LE dollars they rely on the fed’s so heavily for if they want to play these games.

Hmmm. Not seeing anything here saying the federal government can outlaw drugs.

“This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land; and the Judges in every State shall be bound thereby, any Thing in the Constitution or Laws of any State to the Contrary notwithstanding.”

You don’t apparently read well.
Federal law is supreme over local and state law under the “Supremacy Clause”. Judo is arguing the states reserve that right.

Over a hundred years of precedent say otherwise and it has been done under a combination of the “General Welfare” and “Supremacy Clauses” as well as “Necessary and Proper”.

Cry foul on the internet all you want, you’re not going to overturn more than a century of federal statutes and bench law.

Ahh. So the government can force us to buy insurance.

Let’s see here…

Making you buy something you don’t want.

Not allowing a dangerous drug to be legally produced and sold.

Yep, exactly the same thing.

Try again.

Of course it is.
Government force.
You just pick and choose your preferences.

Does that apply to Federal land grazing fees? or is that something worth having an armed stand off with the police over.

so I guess your not one of those small government states right Republicans.

Maybe the best idea isn’t to be so punitive with drug users. Maybe beating up on them is a socially accepted form of cruelty. Maybe we should try to help them instead of sending in the SWAT team.

What on earth are you babbling about now? Not once have I ever said the fed’s don’t have legitimate control over the federal lands.

Almost every branch, agency, and department has it’s own LE personnel.

How justifiable that is, is an entirely different conversation.

They don’t send in SWAT teams to arrest uses, they send them in to arrest drug runners, dealers and kingpins.

Both are dangerous drugs.

LOL, they send in SWAT teams for twitch streamers.

Ok so you didn’t even read the first paragraph did you?

home of suspected heroin dealers

Yeah, I did. The reason people care about the story is that they weren’t heroin dealers.

But, let’s grant that they actually were heroin dealers. Does that mean that the SWAT team should gun them down? No, of course it doesn’t.

As a side note: it’s another story where the cops shoot a dog.
