When Congress passes a stand alone bill that ends all of this, there are going to be a lot of Trump administration folks who are going to really wish they had the last 6-8 weeks back to do over. They bet this would be a bargaining chip that would help them force their will on all of their immigration demands. Wow. Good read. Thanks for sharing this. Perhaps not on this issue. But it sounds like there is more to come. The question will be whether it is successful. Both for Trump and the GOP in the midterms. I suspect possibly more for the prior than the latter.

You’re right about this being manufactured issue though, this is a completely unnecessary trauma that these kids are put through by this administration.

Sessions church is right to condemn this. Certainly no good parent should support it.

So perhaps I’m not as familiar with how the system works, but when a citizen breaks breaks the law, do you put their children in jail (a different one than the parent) as well? Cuz I’d be willing to bet that isn’t the case, making your comparison meaningless.

They cannot be deported withou due process. If the parents are deported, their kids will accompany them.

As long as they determine there is no risk for the child, which they are already doing during intake now, then it is pretty simple. Send them back across the border. And if they are genuinely seeking asylum, give them instructions on how to go about it the proper way. Which undoubtedly most of them have no clue what that process is. Most Americans have no clue what that process is.

How do you know that’s not exactly what is going on? Due process takes time, you know, particularly when the legal system is overloaded.
