Thatās what āzero toleranceā means, everyone who enters the country illegally whether they request asylum or not is facing charges for illegal entry.
So in the cases where the government doesnāt let them come in at an official checkpoint when these families have requested because the govt is screwed up itās not the familiesā fault. Itās the government. They wanted to obey the law. They shouldnāt be penalized.

Church law can impose discipline against its members even if that discipline is otherwise prohibited by a law of general application. You will remember that in that case, a church member and employee filed an EEOC complaint instead of using the Church law procedure, and was fired. The Court held that the generally applicable anti-retaliation provisions could be be used against the church because the filing was prohibited by Church law. If Jeff Sessions violates the tenets of his church, he can receive Church discipline.

But to address your scenario, people who come to Official entry points with a legitimate request for asylum are being let in with their children, but it takes time to process them, and there are too many to usher in without delay, so some have waited days for their turn to be sorted out from those whoās claims are invalid. However, not wanting to wait and so instead crossing illegally does not constitute āwanting to obey the law.ā That is not an excuse for them to not be penalized.
Obama had eight years to fix it. Whatās your excuse for that?
