Pure drama.
Neither Trump nor his few thousand fanatics that showed up can “end” anything. If you truly believe they can, you have far too little understanding of the resilience of your form of government.
You’re letting the media rile you up.

Its really far more fragile than we think. Add a few hundred more guns to that day and we’d be in a different world.
All talk. Revolution takes commitment. This is entertainment.
Noise in the machine.
The first revolution in Russia failed too.
Allright- back to work…
If you’re truly scared, stop imposing.

Oh horse feathers. You add guns and it’s over in an hour. Why do you feel they didn’t “add” them?
It’s not a movie.

And Venezuela
Cuba
Bolivia
Etc.
Commitment.
Revolution requires immiseration.
DougBH:
No there isn’t. There is an indictment for a seditious conspiracy. If they had evidence of sedition they would have gone, with that. Conspiracy generally you have a plan (not some fantasy) to do something illegal and you have taken one step towards accomplishing that plan.
Seditious conspiracy:
“to overthrow, put down, or to destroy by force the Government of the United States, or to levy war against them, or to oppose by force the authority thereof, or by force to prevent, hinder, or delay the execution of any law of the United States, or by force to seize, take, or possess any property of the United States contrary to the authority thereof.”
Theres your legal definition. Enjoy.
The key word is “conspiracy.” “Seditious” is an adjective. No sedition took place, only a conspiracy (allegedly) to commit sedition.
It’s like “attempted murder” … no murder actually took place so no charge of murder is filed.
WuWei:
Then how can there be a conspiracy to commit it?
Because seditious conspiracy, as a crime, requires acts, not just speech.
You are confusing seditious speech with sedition. Sedition is an action.
Sedition is an action.
Sedition is defined as “conduct or speech inciting people to rebel against the authority of a state or monarch.”

Conduct is an action.
“Inciting” is more of the problem, Constitutionally.
Can you think of an example of conduct that could incite people to rebel, that isn’t itself a crime, but you think would be an example of criminal sedition?
There is no crime of “sedition” in this country, aside from “seditious conspiracy.”
I see the left has a new conspiracy theory. And you have bought into it hook line and sinker.

Its not a conspiracy theory- its an indictment.

Would you say that maybe a plot does not require you to act. It is the act of conspiring, in this case to commit sedition?
What is a conspiracy theory is the fairy tale you made up about trump supporters and GOP members and what you decided they think and wanted to do. All you fee fees and no truth because you have no idea what the truth is. No one does all we have is the media spoon feeding you tales and you nodding your head in agreement because you hate trump supporters.
enki:
it’s all based on fear of how it reflects on ones self who supported Trump and protecting the ego that needs to believe in the righteousness of Trump and his supporters.
Even when it comes to the literal overthrow of our democracy.
We used to laugh about Trump’s Fifth ave comment that he could commit a murder and his base would still love him.
And now we are talking about ending the Republic…and it still wouldn’t matter to the Base.
I call people who believe the narrative about insurrection “easy believers” .
Would you say that maybe a plot does not require you to act. It is the act of conspiring, in this case to commit sedition?
Well, yes and no. You’re not far off.
You are correct that in any sort of “conspiracy” offense, the act bring criminalized is the conspiring. But in the US, in almost all cases, a crime of conspiracy requires an overt act in furtherance of that conspiracy.
I don’t know if it’s accurate to call the target offense “sedition,” either - the target offenses are laid out in the statute, and don’t fit the definition of “sedition.”
