To me, having Transgender Females compete with biologic females is inherently unfair and violates Title IX. Girls need to compete against other girls and Transgender females can have major physical advantages which can heavily tilt the competition their way. I honestly don’t see this applying to everything, such as Chess being separated between women and men. For what reason? Or race car driving.

It also sets a very bad precedent for the trans community, it can breed animosity when they should be striving for acceptance and integration into society on a wider scale. This doesn’t help matters.

For Trans males, it is different, they are the ones at a disadvantage for the most part, if they want to compete against biologic males.

There is only one solution, and that is not a separate category. There simply isn’t enough of them that this would make any sense. It is simply that Transgender people should be encouraged to enjoy sports and excercise but when it comes to competitive sports, they really don’t have a viable avenue. They were dealt a bad hand when it comes to gender identity but part of making themselves whole is dealing with the fact that they cannot expect to engage in competitive sports with the group they biologically identify with. Just as they have to acknowledge they probably will never have children. It sucks, but this is the price they have to pay to make themselves whole without infringing on others.

To me there are two options….

A) compete in the gender on your birth certificate. Realistically if you were born a dude you are still a dude.

B) do the same hard work women in sports have done for decades and start your own trans events.

The trans made a decision to go to the doctor and do all the stuff to try to become something other than their birth certificate.

It’s not up to the women in sports to forfeit their events to trans people just because of they made that choice.

There is a third option:

If people would except the fact that many people transition mentally when they are very very young, sometimes as young as four, and stopped trying to prevent access to gender affirming medication, then trans girls would be on a level playing field with cis girls. Of course, at a certain point, cis girls would have an advantage over trans girls, since they would be postpubescent, and develop muscle mass etc. consistent with adolescent and adult women. Meanwhile, the trans girls, who are only on puberty blockers, will not. Of course, if the trans girls start taking gender affirming hormone treatment, which will allow them to develop in the matter of a woman, then they would all be on a level playing field.

The problem comes, with trans Women who do not transition until after going through puberty as a male. I don’t have any good solution for that, other than that they should not be allowed to compete against cis women in sportswear strength is a factor. The problem comes up when trans girls are not allowed to develop as a woman, or are required to develop as a male, because then they will never have the opportunity to participate in sports consistent with their gender.

What the anti-trans community is advocating is a Hobsons choice-either compete as a male or don’t compete at all. This is because there is opposition to allowing trans girls to actually transition. Of course, the same is true, vice versa, but people seem to have far less concerned about individuals who develop as females competing in male sports. the only seeming objection is that females will not be able to compete against men in strength related activities. Of course, we all know there are exceptions.

Transgenders choose their lifestyle , it’s their right I suppose. They do not have the right to force their choice of lifestyle down the throats of others that choose to live as heterosexual female and male.

You are right. Transgenderism aside, the vast majority of us who engage in or have engaged in sports are not good enough to truly compete with the best. That is why there are intermural and co-ed sports leagues, so people with a competitive spirit that exceeds their ability can enjoy the sport and the competition. There would be no reason why a trans-woman could not fulfill their competitive nature in those settings.

I used to play slow-pitch softball in a co-ed league. Nobody would have said boo about a trans-woman (or trans-man) playing on one or all of the teams. Interestingly, one of the women (a real one) who played on my team also played in a women’s league. She told me that all of her teammates were gay and probably 90% of the women in the whole league were gay. She didn’t mention if there were any trans-women playing, but then this was over 40 years ago and that wasn’t a thing back then.
