It’s a Civic with a lift kit. Trust me I know. You get underneath my Si and then look underneath the HRV and they’re pretty much the same vehicle. The HRV just has a factory lift kit on it cause that’s what everyone is buying now. Sedans are a dying breed. Such a shame too.
Which they’re all overpriced now. I paid 24k for my Si brand new back in 2018. Now the same model with the exact same engine and transmission my car has is 35K. That’s way beyond inflation. It’s just Honda being greedy.
If Honda would have offered the Civic Sport Hybrid with a manual transmission that’s probably what I would have gotten. This actually wasn’t the car I really wanted. I really wanted an Accord Sport 2.0L with a six-speed but the dealer informed me it would be a six month wait just to get one ordered. They had this Civic Si on the lot so I went with that instead; I needed a car right then. Looking back, kind of wish I would have waited on that Accord. Much roomier car. I didn’t appreciate the size difference until I had my kid last year and had to start putting a car seat in this car. My best friend has a 2020 Accord with the CVT trans and I noticed how much easier it is to put a kid in the backseat than my Civic is.
My tastes limit what kind of cars I buy. I always buy manual transmissions. And that’s getting hard to do these days. I suspect I’ll have to settle for an auto option next time, despite my distaste for cars that shift themselves.
I mountain bike at Allaire now and then. That’s near Howell, right?
There is a big dealership on Rt. 1. Maybe that’s why? I don’t know…they are everywhere. Pretty affluent area though. Probably more affluent than Howell, though, you are near some pretty swanky shore communities aren’t you?
I used to have a Toyota Matrix XRS. Only came with a manual transmission.
That car was fun to drive. It has some kick at 6k rpm. I have heard the Honda SI versions are very quick as well.
I generally see cars as a tool…I am not really into cars (like you are) but I can appreciate a fun car to drive.
Yeah, that’s near Howell. I got married there. Certain areas of Howell is very rich. I’m not there. But where I am is ok.
From what I heard, you have to register your EV for something like 250 a year, and they want 4 years in advance. I don’t know if that passed. But if it did, no way would I buy an EV.
but of course there is the other side of the coin.
“Overall, the news is good: The EVs purchased after the law took effect have increased American automaker profits, put money into the pockets of consumers who receive the maximum $7,500 tax credit, and benefited the environment.“
The old Sis were truly quick. Starting with the 10th gen cars (like mine) they released the Type R, which is the top dog Civic now. The Si got a turbo 1.5L from the Insight hybrid, minus all the hybrid stuff.
I mean my car isn’t slow. But my old boss had a 2014 Si with the L24. And that was much a hotter car with a 8K redline. Now with the Type R being a thing the Si had to get dumbed down not to touch too much on its toes.
But this little bastard is still fun to drive and gets 45 miles per gallon. I’d call it a spicy Civic rather than a hot Civic like the old Si models were back in the day.
And yeah those XRS cars were hot stuff backing he day. They had the 2ZZ-FE engine from the Celica GTS cars. 9K redline, super aggressive 1st generation VVT-LI. I drove a Corolla with that power train once. Real good set up. Only issue is with them is that can easily suffer from oil starvation issues at the edge of the envelope. And dear God that’s disastrous at a 9K pull. Ive seen my fair share of them with holes in the blocks from where the connecting rods just decided to exit the conversation.
IRS and other tax authority in every country in the world: “That company did not make a profit.”
Libs: Yaaargh!!! My oppression studies professor told me that corportaions make a huge profits. They are evil & should stop using tax loopholes. Hollywood movies told me the same thing. Yaaargh."
Good description of that Matrix. GM also mae the same car, Pontiac Vibe. These were made in the NUMI plant in my area. Now it is a Tesla factory.
I called on Tesla back when they were a still just doing the roadster. Unfortunately, I cater more to the electronics manufacturing arena…and was not really able to support them for a lot of the supplies they needed. Wish I had bought some stock back then! One thing I remember, when I would visit, needed to check in at the lobby. The receptionists were always beautiful, almost like models.
No kidding, true story, when I was in Asia I met a man, a factory manager form my parents hmetomw (Reading PA at the time.) His company made gloves, only it was losing money year after year. Sales were near zero BECAUSE . . . well Asian companies owned by Asians and located in Asia were making gloves in Asia wiht Asian labor and underpricing his company’s product.
He had two choices:
Close the factory because there were almost zero sales.
-OR-
Close the factory becasue there were almost zero sales and open on in Asia.
Yet somehow Libs seem to think “Asians never opened any factories. American corporations are evil, but only the American ones. Factories exist in Asia because American companies are greedy and evil. Americans are resoonisble for closing the factories here. Americans are responsible for factories opening there.”
“Outta my way racist!. No time to think. I am in a rush to bad mouth American corporations.”

It is truly “blame America first” with some people.
