Israel at War - Hamas Attacks

Does Ukraine?

Ukraine loves the dollars as much as Israel. There does come a point when we have to consider the future of funding. But that is the challenge of international politics and one reason why we send representatives to DC.

Biden can talk to Netanyahu how he wants when he wants and about what he wants. To the tune of billions of dollars.

He blew the terror attack. Thats a thing NOT to do.

What will be interesting to see is what happens to Netanyahu after this current situation is resolved. He is currently very unpopular amongst the Israeli electorate.

Actually, he’s very unpopular among the media and Israeli political swamp. And they tell you to believe he’s unpopular among the electorate.

Same dynamic in the USA.

When you parrot their messaging, it shows they are effective.

Agree. Israelis are going to be pleased with his action.

Yes the electorate that rioted and grinded the entire country to a halt because of his policy initiatives proves that he is popular with them.

He is no doubt popular with some large psrt of the electorate because he does keep coming back. But that doesn’t mean that he is primarily unpopular with the political swamp. I’d love to know who exactly in Israeli politics is the swamp.

what is your basis for agreement

What have read about Israeli politics or Israelis that makes you agree

“Exactly”.

Meh.

Little but like Ukraine, huh?

I do think there comes a point that we need to turn off the money to Ukraine. The US does not have a blank checkbook.

I would have no problem if tomorrow the US stopped funding both Israel and Ukraine. Obviously understanding that there would be consequences but at what point do we say enough is enough.

Then again no one said global internation politics was easy but thats why we elect reps to government.

No.

We elect representatives.

The people say no more money for Ukraine.

Or we could just mind our own business.

Very true. Then we need to send people to DC to do that.

My expectation is that Israel will keep enough of a presence in Gaza to neutralize the Hamas elements that have melted into the civilian population. They will never again be allowed to operate unchecked, as they have in the past. IMHO

Or Israel.

My guess is that private conversations between the US and Israel are very different than what is being said for public consumption.

Yes, it is good to see hostages released. On the other hand, 67 Palestinians reported died in the attack, which hit 14 homes and 3 mosques. An unspecified number of Israeli soldiers were also presumably killed.

Israelis released in the last prisoner exchange said they were more afraid of friendly fire from Israeli forces than of Hamas:

“Every day in captivity was extremely challenging. We were in tunnels, terrified that it would not be Hamas, but Israel, that would kill us, and then they would say Hamas killed you,” said one unnamed freed hostage from Kibbutz Nir Oz, according to Ynet. “So, I strongly urge that the prisoner exchange begins as soon as possible and everyone needs to return home. There should be no hierarchy. Everyone is equally important.”

A recent report from Israel shows that at least 31 Israeli hostages have been confirmed dead.

I have no sympathy.

If the Palestinians want to play with fire, they are going to get burned.

Or, they can turn on Hamas and disclose the location of the hostages.

The problem is that the US is providing the flamethrowers. What business do we have in this tribal warfare?

Israel is using France to send demands to Hezbollah to withdraw north of the Litani River about 10 miles north of the border. An Israeli invasion of Lebanon is likely.

Will US forces get sucked into the conflict if Israel gets badly burned in a war with Hezbollah?
