At the moment the MSNBC reporter said what he said, it could very well be that the situation was exactly as he described…mostly a protest with scattered burnings and violence.

I heard him speak and there were very fine people on both sides. Many FINE people do not want our historical statues destroyed by hoodlums and I am one of those people. If we are to remove them, that’s the choice of those that reside there. It isn’t for others to come in and destroy them. Do you really not understand this?
