We don’t know the actual mortality rate. What we know is the mortality rate of confirmed cases.

You are correct. In an earlier post where I mentioned this I also expressed some concern about whether data coming out of China is reliable. If, as some hypothesize, the disease is hard to detect, the mortality rate may be much lower BUT if that means the infection rate is proportionally higher the consequences would still be dire.
Best to prepare for a serious outbreak, because if, as we all hope, coronavirus proves to be readily containable, this is not the last new disease that will spread rapidly in our globalized world.

Yeah, the present value has shifted downward significantly. But now my contributions (like with yesterday’s paycheck) will be at a significant discount. I’m an advocate of dollar cost averaging with low cost total market indexes (or S&P500 at the least). I haven’t lost money cause I haven’t sold anything. In fact, I’ll likely buy some SPY puts on Monday and eventually some calls once I feel it’ll rally back.
No one has lost any money unless they’ve sold in the dip. People shouldn’t trade emotionally.

If you don’t have a mask, salt water over something homemade may be of some benefit as well. I’m pretty sure you could use salt water as a hand sanitizer as well…
The salt coating, which has been under development since 2015, essentially works to kill any particles of the virus it comes into contact with.

I’m just pointing out something I noticed. Hand sanitizers make it convenient to keep up hygiene while out and about and not near a sink.

I was able to snag some but it was difficult. I plan on having a little bottle on my keychain.
One thing that has been disappointing in the response so far is lack of test kits.
Some of the cases in CA had delays in confirming due to lack of test kits.
No he didn’t and I proved the quotes of exactly what he did say confirming he didn’t.
They are being manufactured, they can’t simply be willed into being.

There was a flaw in the original production line so it was stopped, corrected, and then production resumed.

You might want to stop running around proclaiming how easily this will be contained when they did not even have adequate testing in place when the first community spread cases started emerging
