More than 450 former federal prosecutors who worked in Republican and Democratic administrations have signed on to a statement asserting special counsel Robert S. Mueller IIIâs findings would have produced obstruction charges against President Trump â if not for the office he held.
The statement â signed by myriad former career government employees as well as high-profile political appointees â offers a rebuttal to Attorney General William P. Barrâs determination that the evidence Mueller uncovered was ânot sufficientâ to establish that Trump committed a crime.
While this is in no way in my opinion a statement of guilt. It does clearly state the opinion that if not for the office of president, more than 450 former federal prosecutors, say he would have been charged with obstruction.
So if I read this rightâŚthis country is either Ever Trumpers or Never Trumpers. And donât ever stand against the manâŚeven when the law is at stake? Just amazing.
Has nothing to do with me. How many thousands of former prosecutors didnât sign the statement. No doubt Trump haters believe there is only one side to this story, but that really isnât the case at all.
Not really, given that Mueller himself made it clear that Trump being president wasnât a factor in his decision not to indict. He told Barr that there simply wasnât enough evidence.
