#1 The Constitution only calls for a majority to pass legislation (excluding veto override and Constitutional Amendments).
#2 The rules of the Senate are that the rules can be changes or an exception made based on a majority vote.

The fact that some GOP members will vote with the DEMs to not pass based on a majority does not change the premise that the GOP COULD pass a CR without a single DEM vote.
The fact that they donât have the GOP votes to support it is the GOPs problem.
Maybe they should be willing to negotiate a deal instead of my way or the highway.

Shouldnât we dispense with this nansy-pansy type of âpartialâ shutdown bull crap.
If Congress is going to shutdown the government than they should be required to actually shut it down. None of this âessentialâ work force bull shyte.
Shut it down and make it painful so that Congress will really hear from constituents.
- Government workers (all of them) are sent home with no back pay for time missed. This includes EVERYONE.
- Air Traffic Controllers get to stay on the job until aircraft have landed, no new flights are allowed to take off or enter American air space from other countries if they took off after the shutdown time.
- FBI, Border Patrol, NSA, CIA, etc. - Go home. Weâll call you to come back.
- Government processing of financials stops.
- No Social Security checks issued.
- No Medicare checks issued.
- No VA checks issued.
- No pay for the military.
- No pay for military retirees.
- If you are a contractor for the federal government, sorry no cash for no work.
- Payment to State and School districts for everything stops.
- Federal Courts shut down.
- Federal Prisons? Lock the inmates in their cell with a weekâs worth of MREâs.
- etc.
Congressional staff is sent home. The only ones allowed to work in the empty Capital Building are the actual members of Congress because under the Constitution their compensation cannot be reduced during their term of office so they are the only ones getting paid.
If a shutdown was a real shut down Congress would think twice before ignoring their responsibilities and pulling political stunts.

Who do you blame? Should the Republicans go along with the Libs demands so they will vote for the bill.
Libs only want to add 1.5 trillion to the bill.
They want medical care for the Illegals, transgender surgeries paid, global warming funds. etc etc.

nah, sorry. Schumer tried to blackmail his dumbass spending on confirmations and that didnât work out for him. Not going to work here either. There are always Republicans willing to go along to keep the government working. Sometimes its a last minute deal, and sometimes its after the last minute, but there is always a few who will. Will 7 democrats do the same?
Its a simple prospect, the minority does not get to set the agenda

because almost every time this does not happen. Its one of the reason republican voters hate their representatives (as a whole), because they ALWAYS cave. When they have the majority, they cave in to liberal âdemandsâ, when they are in the minority, they cave in every time. The last Republican with the cajones to hold democrat feet to the fire was Newt.
