I don’t disagree, but now the costs are based on people getting those subsidies and I doubt taking them away will lower said costs.

The two political parties want different things, neither side will compromise, the government shuts down, and partisans blame the other side while giving their team a pass. Standard procedure, I guess.

Currently both sides think the other side will get blamed so the government will shut down until it is clear who the American people as a whole blame for it.

I already said earlier in the thread that 8 of the more moderate Dems should vote for the CR and not give Trump what he wants.

I think the dems want this shutdown.

Made very unreasonable demands.

The when the gop refuses to cave the dems and their fake news media will lay it all at Trump’s feet.

The TDS is so strong they will try anything at this point.

The shutdown is overblown to be honest.

About 70 percent of gov keeps chugging along.

#1 We don’t have government shutdowns in this country.

#2 Trump doesn’t need a single DEM vote to pass a CR or budget bill.

No he doesn’t.

The Constitution only calls for a majority to pass legislation.

The Senate rules can be changes and/or an exception made with a simple majority, then the bill can be passed with another simple majority.
