Follow the science! University bans unvaccinated student from on-line classes

Right, they should have come up with a way to track online students that weren’t vaccinated in case the switched to in person classes. Honestly, they probably could have done it by just putting an * after their last name without changing the software.

Or they could have just told him “You’re not allowed on campus”.

True…kids in college already know it all though and can be a tad stubborn.

Sure there’s a comparison.

They’re both vaccines.

The death rate from measles and mumps is about the same as that for flu. Why should we care if measles and mumps start happening again? Yeah they’re ■■■■■■ diseases while you’re going through them but your chances of death are very low.

So we have got the exact same situation here.

There’s no discrimination. No one has an inherent right to attend a certain college.

So let’s punish him before he commits a crime. Prior restraint.

Maybe they think it’s good policy and good for the state of NJ to require all students, on- and offline, to get vaccinated.

According to some posters a school can make any rules they want and you comply or go to another school. Therefore, using this principle, a school could make a rule that students cannot fraternize with non students such as the local Taco Bell cashier or pet groomer etc. They can only have fellow students as friends or acquaintances.

Yes, that was an argument when colleges were for white males only.

Maybe what they think is a violation of a right.

He was admitted.

Rutgers is huge. How would they enforce that? If they currently don’t check at the gym, or dorms, or office buildings, they would have to add some layer of security just to keep a handful of people who don’t want to get vaccinated? It’s a school of 68K. Just seems easier to insist on anyone with campus access to prove vaccination once and not have to add a layer of security on the ground.

Explaing and maintaining school requirements isn’t a punishment.

“Enforce” :+1:t4:

Disenrolling an enrolled student is.

How is an online only student who made the choice not to accept the vaccination hurting anyone? He’s agreed to stay off campus.

I’m failing to see how this remote student’s choice is Rutgers’ circus or its elephant.

I don’t get it.

If the school has a medical requirement for admission, they have to ‘enforce’ it somehow.

IF a school only allows students and faculty to some events they have to enforce that somehow.

If they don’t allow alcohol into events, they have to enforce it.

IT’s the same thing with vaccinations - if they require them they have to enforce the requirement.

What is to prevent unvaccinated non-students from coming into the buildings or walk around the campus?

The vaccination policy makes little sense even for those on campus. I expect that an outbreak of COVID among the vaccinated will be coming along as is already happening at Cornell.

And? Another university decided it could force a professor who already had Covid to get vaccinated, the courts informed them otherwise.

If he didn’t pay his bill and they disenrolled him, is that a punishment?

He is choosing not to meet the requirements of enrollment.
