But since then Putin has only further alienated himself and Russia from the rest of the world.
All his oligarch friends have had their assets frozen and probably want to turn on him but some wind up dead.
The US hurt them greatly without ever firing a shot.
He is having some issues with the US and Western Europe. He’s doing just fine with the BRIC and his exports are still flowing. He is having some issues getting his funds out of India, But I expect they will do a workaround with Iran where Russia uses the Rupees in India to purchase goods for Iran, and then Iran compensates Russia with munitions deliveries.

Yes of course he’ll be fine and be reduced to dealing with Iran and the like, but his oligarch friends who he gave most of it away to, are severely p****d at him, causing him a real threat from within.
Else why would Russians suddenly be falling out of hotel rooms if he wasn’t feeling threatened from within.
They are not happy having their wealth and travel severely limited.
They have the means to organise a coup and it has to be a constant concern for him.

And he is very good at arranging creative adventures, such as base jumping from windows, without parachutes, to discourage just such events.
I hope you understand in future when we normalize relations with Russia they’re going to demand for compensation on all those funded seized with interest.

But the affect was not just financial it caused a rift within his inner circle and billionaire friends who could now pose a challenge to him.
I read he is very isolated as it is and trusts noone.
And maybe/hopefully that’s the way it will play out, he’ll be destroyed from within.
Either way this war has to be hurting ordinary Russians and are questioning their leader in private.
I must admit I’m secretly fascinated by the things they do to kill a target.
The Kim Jong Un cousin poisoned at a South East Asian airport thing and the UK Russian giy poisoned on live tv, how do they even transport this stuff?
And on what basis, they were the ones who decided to wage this war and we at the very least had a right to respond.

So they fake their death, get a new identification and move to a nice place with a new identification and free from sanctions.
Faking one’s death is done alot… for lots of reasons.
Why do you think these deaths are announced?

There are various reasons, the fact that you don’t agree with them does not make them “no reason”
