I would say NATO has suddenly become more relevant. The Russian invasion of Ukraine has made Europe realize they need a united front to confront Russian aggression.
Putins gamble has backfired spectacularly because NATO is now bigger than before and stronger.
NATO has expanded and Russians are still fighting in Ukraine even though it was expected to be an easy victory. Everyone me included thought Kiev would fall in weeks.
What are you on about? I said NATO has expanded with Finland joining earlier this year. Without the Russian invasion of Ukraine I doubt they would have ever joined.
The whole argument for discrediting NATO relied upon the idea that it’s been thirty years since the Cold War and why do we need a pan-European/US common strategy against Russia when they aren’t going to invade anyone.
Then Putin invaded Ukraine. Now Finland and Sweden after eighty years of neutrality want to join, as well as like every single central European nation that isn’t a member. A military alliance against Russian expansionism clearly makes sense when they’re trying to annex their neighbors.
I have no idea what you are babbling on about. To say that NATO is not larger and more united as a result of the Russian invasion of Ukraine is denying reality?
Where did I say that NATO was involved directly in Ukraine? But yes NATO’s relevance and importance has been reaffirmed among a significant proportion of Europeans.(geographically speaking and not just the EU).
NATO has no desire to go to war with Russia unless directly attacked by Russia and Russia has enough problems right now without kicking off that pandoras box.
