Democrats are getting nuttier by the day. What is wrong with you people?

It’s Oregon…

Unfortunately Democrats dominate everything in that state.

What are they even saying? You get about 2-3 paragraphs in and I’m not sure they’re talking about mathematics. If there a competition on who can better champion ridiculous?

I was born and raised in Oregon, lived there the first 55 years of my life. It’s one of the most wonderful beautiful places God ever created…

And liberal Democrats in and around Portland and Salem are destroying that wonderful state. It breaks my heart.

Regarding the OP…2+2 equals four…inserting the idea that anything other than the correct answer is acceptable because if someone’s skin color is in itself one of the most racist things I ve ever heard of. The racism of low expectations is the actual racism.

Yeah. They can better apply that to taxation. Before raising taxes they can come up with two answers to solve the problem. Or, by unpacking the assumptions that are made in the problem they might not have to raise taxes. Seems to make a little more sense now.

So, you have no problem with the communist/socialist brain washing techniques being used on children in government operated schools?

Oh, oh…it looks like systemic wacism is in Democrat controlled cities and states? Why don’t their constituents vote them out? Are they too…systemically wacist?

Actually it’s a myth.

If you read through the actual documents that were put out…admittedly a difficult thing to do since folks with degrees like to use buzzwords…there is nothing in there about 2+2 equaling anything other than 4.

You’re reading a secondhand summary that is editorializing to feed you exactly what they suspect you already believe about the subject at hand.

How many times does it have to be said that when you see something on the web that references something secondhand, the first thing you should do is read the source material as opposed to just taking the word of the secondhand author?

$15 dollars an hour my ass.

The Woke: making everything stupid.

This seems a bit random with the actual huge issues Oregon has with white supremacist groups.

You mean the masked white people breaking windows and throwing stuff in the name of communism and being protected by local elected Democrats? Those white supremacists?

No I mean the actual white supremacists that infest Oregon outside of Portland.

Whose kids are they dumbing down? Whose communities are they burning? Whose elections are they stealing?

So I just did a bunch of googling and after whittling my way thru three layers of ■■■■■■■■ I found what I think are the basic documents. SMCOE-SMCCCD (google.com)

I’m not going to sit here and read this whole thing but…Here’s the summary. The proposed curriculum comes from some conglomeration including a couple of education entities in San Mateo, CA…Something called the Education Trust-West and the California Partnership for Math + Science Education.

“The Pathway offers guidance and resources for educators to use now as they plan their curriculum, while also offering opportunities for ongoing self-reflection as they seek to develop an anti-racist math practice. The toolkit “strides” serve as multiple on-ramps for educators as they navigate the individual and collective journey from equity to anti-racism.”

How is math racist?

“The Pathway offers guidance and resources for educators to use now as they plan their curriculum, while also offering opportunities for ongoing self-reflection as they seek to develop an anti-racist math practice. The toolkit “strides” serve as multiple on-ramps for educators as they navigate the individual and collective journey from equity to anti-racism.”

How is Math Racist?

You can get linked to “5 Strides on the Path to Math Equity”!

The first of which is " Dismantling Racism in Mathematics Instruction" one of the first big bolded paragraphs you read says "“We live in a toxic culture that
affects us all; one dynamic
of the culture is that we are
discouraged from seeing it. One
of our tasks is to learn to see our
culture and how it teaches us to
make normal that which is not
and should never be normal.”

The mere fact that something as simple and normal as math is now being presented as part of a toxic culture is ridiculous. Later in that document under a bold heading that reads “Deconstructing Racism in Mathematics Education” we see a paragraph that reads “White supremacy culture infiltrates math classrooms in everyday teacher actions. Coupled with the beliefs that underlie
these actions, they perpetuate educational harm on Black, Latinx, and multilingual students, denying them full access to
the world of mathematics. The table below identifies the ways in which white supremacy shows up in math classrooms.”

Now, I don’t have time or the interest in reading this entire thing…But multiple news stories about this say basically the same thing concluded in the original linked article. Fox has a lengthy story, the first three paragraphs read…" The Oregon Department of Education (ODE) recently encouraged teachers to register for training that encourages “ethnomathematics” and argues, among other things, that White supremacy manifests itself in the focus on finding the right answer.

An ODE newsletter sent last week advertises a Feb. 21 “Pathway to Math Equity Micro-Course,” which is designed for middle school teachers to make use of a toolkit for “dismantling racism in mathematics.” The event website identifies the event as a partnership between California’s San Mateo County Office of Education, The Education Trust-West and others.

Part of the toolkit includes a list of ways “white supremacy culture” allegedly “infiltrates math classrooms.” Those include “the focus is on getting the ‘right’ answer,” students being “required to ‘show their work,’” and other alleged manifestations."

The mere fact that the entire emphasis of this concept is on white supremacy and racism and that multiple news stories confirm the original posts presentation. The same Fox story later quotes the “ToolKit” saying " An associated “Dismantling Racism” workbook, linked within the toolkit, similarly identifies “objectivity” – described as “the belief that there is such a thing as being objective or ‘neutral’” – as a characteristic of White supremacy.

Instead of focusing on one right answer, the toolkit encourages teachers to “come up with at least two answers that might solve this problem.”

It adds: “Challenge standardized test questions by getting the ‘right’ answer, but justify other answers by unpacking the assumptions that are made in the problem.”

This country has done more to stamp out racism than most, we have evolved so far in our 240+ years, I’m sick of this garbage emphasizing non existent racism and white supremacy as the reason for everything. I guess if liberalism can’t control our lives with global warming and covid maybe calling us all racists will do the trick.

Here’s my theory, we’ve done so much and made so many giant strides toward eliminating racism that now the idiots on the left are having to make it up just to enforce their nutty ideas.

Don’t forget milk the drink of Reinhard Heydrich

Of course that would mean cows are racists as well, I think it’s starting to make sense as India is voted the most racist country in the world and they worship cows. Maybe that’s the real reason AOC wants to kill all farting cows, I see a global conspiracy.

You feel this one is worse than the other?

Again, if there’s any truth to the claim they said something along the lines of focusing on finding the right answer is a symbol of white supremacy, these people have ■■■■■■■ issues. Focus on finding the right answer is the reason for mathematics, it IS mathematics.

Yes. Do you know about the history of Oregon? It’s real bad.

Yes, a bit.

Why do you feel this one is worse?
