If you were put in a drive through. No training on the register or anthing . . could you do it?
I’m pretty sure with training the president could. Might not have the best maners to those coming through the line . . . but I’ve delt with plenty of those type people at the drive through over the years.
At my work, they were discussing where they would get cots, pipe curtains, and how food and other supplies would be delivered if they quarantine us at work. As in we would not be able to leave our work building.
Sounds like there was an issue with the bidding, it was brought to his attention and looks like he’s fixing it.
From your article:
“When New Mexico’s governor raised similar concerns later in the call, Trump said he would ask FEMA to ensure there were no conflicts with purchases in the future.”
I’m not joking. They are putting things in the works that if it comes to it, we will not be able to leave premesis. The work I do is considered essential. And by essential – I mean there are multiple plans in place for different circumstances. We have jump bags that are prepped and ready to go where we can set up at 2 or 3 different locations.
I’m a highly well paid janitor.
but I work at a essential power plant, we have enough supplies to self sustain for a month.
they are ready for just about everything, terrorist, meltdown, etc.
Probably from previous rules set over many administrations. That’s how they respond to disasters (like this one). Also remember hurricane and tornado seasons are fast apporaching as well.
But yes, in this case, states should be getting a lot of supplies. But you know there will be complaints if FEMA doesn’t respond appropriately. The optimal catch 22
In the previous thread in this, it was brought up that Trump had fired the pandemic response team - or disbanded them or whatever you want to call it, two years ago, saying he could bring back people as soon as he needed them.
I asked in that thread, would the US’s response have been any different if that pandemic response team had been in place.
Would they have coordinated with FEMA from the get-go to ensure that such conflicts did not arise?
That the federal government’s role as a “shipping clerk” would actually be recognized as essential?
I don’t know that our response to this would have been any more efficient, but what should never have happened is the states and the feds competing with each other to buy necessary supplies.
Edit.
My bad. I forgot that Trump had put Pence in charge of the Coronavirus response. Pence should have been on top of it and wasn’t. And he damn sure should have made sure FEMA was.)
So are your saying that this would or wouldn’t have been an issue if the team hadn’t been disbanded?
Are you just assuming it wouldn’t have been an issue?
I don’t know if it would have been an issue or not. I thought that’s what I said in my post.
We can’t say for sure can we?
No, we can’t.
Again, problem addressed by governors and fixed by Trump.
Whether or not it would have been handled more competently by the pandemic response or not is indeed impossible to say, but can you agree it shouldn’t have happened at all, regardless of who was in charge?
We can put the blame on the head of FEMA, if you like. (Edit - and Pence!) Together they should have been coordinating with the governors.
