Challenge: can anyone detail what are the asylum conditions in which ALL these people are fleeing?

All those on the Left here and in Congress are claiming that the people showing up at the border are “asylum seekers” and as far as many of us are concerned this is just a scapegoat for allowing an open border. Furthermore, to those on the Left, for anyone to even challenge that is simply just an example of the typical racism that permeates all cons. So, here’s a challenge, for those who are convinced that these people are asylum seekers please tell us exactly what are the asylum conditions in ALL the countries in which ALL these people along are fleeing?

PS - Focus on the LEGAL conditions of asylum as I assume everyone here knows (if you have access to such things as the internet) that the LEGAL conditions under asylum law are someone is “either the victim of past persecution or you have a well-founded fear of future persecution. In the case of past persecution, you must prove that you were persecuted in your home country or last country of residence.”

The persecution must have been based on at least one of five grounds, either your:

race, religion, nationality, political opinion, or membership in a particular social group.

So, what exactly does “persecution” mean and what comes to mind for us here when we hear that term? I’m going to make the assumption that for most of us two things come to mind; Jews and Christians, because of being specifically targeted for either race or religion. In other words, the notion of being targeted along with “ill treatment” definitely should be included here. Here is some good further reading:

I am not sure why we continue to trade with Mexico or any other country that oppresses so many of its own people that way.

Seriously over 10,000 asylum-seekers a month and the country should be put on our enemies list and treated like Iran and N Korea (and formerly S Africa.)

From the link:

Fear is the requisite for asylum, but the definition is based on a fear of a specific entity, the state, and a fear of being persecuted by the state or its representatives. Many of today’s asylum seekers, especially those from Central America and Mexico (which, taken together, account for most of the people seeking asylum in the United States), are fleeing non-state persecutors. According to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees’ (UNHCR) Handbook on Procedures and Criteria for Determining Refugee Status, “in general, the applicant’s fear should be considered well founded if he can establish, to a reasonable degree, that his continued stay in his country of origin has become intolerable to him.”

There was something brought up in another article I read that as part of the conditions for LEGAL asylum is the notion that a person should have to make the case that there is NOWHERE else in their country of origin that is safe for them.

We are also more than happy to send all these awful countries foreign aid. Do you ever see any Dems crying about that???

Given the number of asylees claiming “Mexico is oppressing me” the country should definitively be cut-off from the IMF, the World Bank, all trade with the US etc. and we should seriously consider freezing all Mexican assets in the US until that terrible oppressive regime stops oppressing its people.

I ll be curious to see if anyone accepts this challenge.

Here’s the difference today, it’s not 1930/40’s Germany, it’s 2023! It’s not like we don’t have no idea what’s going on in all these countries, with organizations like the UN, our ubiquitous news sources and embassies, charitable organizations, etc., etc., etc. I guess when it comes to this issue, we are all supposed to throw away our brains and throw our hands up in the air and just say “well there’s nothing we can do they are asylum seekers.”

Economic migrants are not asylum seekers, even if they are coached to say they are to game the system.

That’s why so much of this debate is pure semantics. When two people approach the border there’s no empirical means of distinguishing which one has a legitimate claim for asylum, and which is an illegal immigrant who is simply making either a false or nonlegitimate legal claim. The Biden Administration’s approach is to simply let EVERYONE in and give them court dates 10 years down the road!

You get an answer?

No, and aren’t we always told by them that they are the educated ones who need to enlighten us on such issues?

I didn’t either

So then here’s the next question. If we all agree that (at least the overwhelming majority) they are not coming with legitimately LEGAL asylum claims, then why the ■■■■ is Biden letting them all in?

We don’t OWE anyone asylum. If we can’t handle it without damage to this country, end it. However, there are other ways such as stay in third countries that you passed through on the way here, either permanently or until a determination can be made here while you wait there. Or everyone stays out except consideration may be given to people from some countries such as Venezuela, but only if the asylee can actually prove the government was specifically after them.
This letting in a million because one might need it stinks.

If there are no legitimate asylum conditions in any country on the continent, why are we letting them in at all? The way is shut.

Imho “everyone stays out” at this point is the only option.

For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction…

The action has been Biden’s erasure of our southern border and the overwhelming of our system. The reaction now needs to be a complete sealing of that border. It’s time to stop letting people in. Period.

Americans are seeing small towns and big cities overrun beyond what our systems and personnel can handle.

I saw a story yesterday or Thursday that the places where Texas has put in razor wire and told Biden to get bent are seeing a reduction in illegal activity. Greg Abbott might be the best asset America has in this immigration nightmare Biden and the Democrat party has created.

Time for a reset.

Wow, where’s all the defenders with their excuses?

Not that I’m surprised by the lack of answers from a certain section.

Just looked at the various links posted in this thread as well:

Pretty much difficult to find the specific conditions that these people are leaving that fit the legal reasons for asylum.
