Challenge: can anyone detail what are the asylum conditions in which ALL these people are fleeing?

This is the biggest issue along with inflation this year, and it is indefensible by Democrats. They are wise to ignore it.

these “asylum” seekers should know that the leftists shut them (American asylums) all down in the late seventies/early eighties…

Well if you must know, the secret is out. Get them dependent on the goobermint and get them voting rights. One party rule into perpetuity, you know communism. Why do you think the Dimbulbcrats cry “threat to ‘Mocracy”? Once there’s one party rule with a central government there’s no need for ‘Mocracy :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

venezuela:

from the CSIS website.

“The root causes that generated this unprecedented flow of migrants and refugees, including democratic breakdown, repression, and a lack of basic human rights, remain unchanged in Venezuela.”

7,700,000 refugees and asylum seekers.

Well, I read the whole thing here:

There’s nothing one can definitively pinpoint to as a group of people being targeted for persecution based on race, religion, or membership in a certain group. It’s clear that the country has plenty of problems but the conditions for asylum VERY SPECIFIC.

From the link I posted:

Venezuelan migrants are now leaving countries like Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Chile, where they had originally migrated, due to low salaries, inflation, and lack of jobs, and are making the dangerous trek to reach the U.S. border.

That doesn’t meet the legal requirements for asylum. :man_shrugging:

lack of human rights. aka oppresion.

Allan

they already have TPS, i am sure you know.

Allan

In Venezula, which is why they fled to Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Chile. They are leaving those places to come here because they want improved economic conditions, which now makes them economic migrants, not refugees.

My geography isn’t very good…

Remind me how many countries the Venezuelan “asylum” seekers had to go thru to get here. Aren’t they supposed to stop in one those countries with their “asylum” claims.

TPS and asylum are not the same thing.

First, that is not what I posted. Second lack of human rights and oppression are vague. For asylum it’s very specific conditions about WHY the individual or group is being persecuted, and by whom.

They have human rights in their constitution.

From Venezuela into Columbia, then Panama, then Costa Rica, then Nicaragua, then either Honduras or El Salvador, then Guatemala, then finally Mexico to reach our Southern Border.

thats what immigration courts are for.

Allan

for the fiscal year 2023 (ended July 2023)

29% of cases for asylum for Venezuelan citizens were GRANTED by immigration judges having met the criteria to be granted asylum in United States.

Allan

aka as a thread ender. its not for layman to decide whether a person qualifies for asylum but an immigration court judge.

Allan

And personally, I would not want a lot more of those judges appointed by an administration that is clearly for open borders. Let’s see who wins the next election and see whom the American people want to appoint those judges.
