Biden releases 'gender equity' plan that calls for eliminating cash bail

Indeed, but not because of the bail. You have a right to a speedy trial regardless of where you are waiting.

You don’t have a right to walk around free to commit more crimes while you wait.

So extremely weird that conservatives want “The State” in the form of teachers…to deliver physical punishment to children. Very very weird.

Does a white male unable to pay bail get different treatment?

Sure- but anyone with an extra thousand can and do “walk around free to commute more crimes”. Why do they get to and the poorer don’t?

Teachers should not be part of “the state”. So let’s pull education out of the states control. You ok with that?

Or is it weird that you want “the state” to have the power over children’s minds?

No but statistically this affects people of color and women far more.

Sort of like Jim Crow laws were written to target certain groups.

Ok so end public education and have private pay schools where teachers can physically punish kids. Ok.

From the link:

“entitled the National Strategy on Gender Equity and Equality.”

What does mean? Do they want administrative assistants to be paid the same as welders?

They don’t. The rules are the same for everybody. $1k bail is $1k bail, whether you are a white normal male or a black Haitian IV drug abusing lesbian.

Your personal finances are what are unequal.

So what. Bail is not determined by your personal finances. It is determined by the severity of the offense and the likelihood you will flee.

Why do you think they set bail at millions for some?

You are trying to equalize outcomes again.

Equal outcomes.

So it’s your fault you’re poor- and therefore you have to stay in jail. Nah…

Jailing people for being poor is happening with hundreds of thousands of small cases- leading to jail overcrowding- leading to you and me paying taxes to keep people in jail unnecessarily. It’s dumb- but worse it’s unconstitutional.

No, you committed a crime; therefore, you have to stay in jail. Now, because of logistics, we’re going to allow you to post a bond so that when we call you, you’re more likely to show up.

I’m with you on the speedy trial. But I don’t think you’ve made a case for cash bail being unConstitutional.

Nobody is being jailed for being poor. Don’t be ridiculous.

It’s literally what’s happening. And taxpayers are paying for it.

We got rid of poorhouses a long time ago.

You got a link to back up that claim?

No, it’s not. See this is why nobody likes you progs. You take a valid point, paint racism all over it, and turn it into Woke crap.

You have a BIPOC of limited means charged with a crime. You don’t require bail. Xi goes out and the next day, commits another crime. No bail. Again.

When you’re ready to try Xi for the first offense, Xi has committed two more and has no reason to show up for the first one.

What will society say about that?

30% of those who do post bail.

You’re not “jailing people for being poor”. They are being jailed for a crime. Now they can stay in jail until their trial or they can pay bail? The bail is to insure they’ll return for their trial. Those are the rules, now…how does each choose to conduct their lives? It’s their choice and their choice alone? If you don’t have the money for bail, then don’t commit the crime but don’t commit the crime and then say, the bail isn’t fair. That’s absolutely ridiculous.
