Bernie's workers want $15 an hour

And yet their hours a being reduced, they get health insurance, and agreed to the contract in may

Legally, if you pay an employee a salary and the hours worked drop them below minimum wage, you are required to cross the differential by paying minimum wage.

People paid a salary have been exploited by being let to believe they make “X” amount based on a 40 hour work week. Some have no idea that they may be entitled to further compensation.

The standard is IF they drop below minimum wage.

It sounds like they want to be paid $15.00 per hour because they don’t understand how salaries work. Good for Bernie. He will make conservatives out of them yet.

Yes. Yes it is

Then why are they complaining about not making enough to live on? 36k is 36k total doesn’t change on amount of hours. Do you know how salary works.

Nobody has dropped below minimum wage and by request their hours are being reduced

They dont have hourly positions. Yet, still are having their hours dropped at their request. Hell, they were even offered higher salaries - did you read the article? You dont understand salaries?

Because they finally sat down with a pencil, a calculator and a piece of paper and figured out that they are not making $15.00 per hour.

Sounds like what they want is a hybrid: $15.00/hr guaranteed. To get that, you have to clock in and then the employer also has to pay overtime for any hours worked over 40.

It was a generic statement.

And we are talking about a specific case

Why did they have to cut hours to meet 15 dollar and hour if they were already make 15 or more?

Then don’t use a generic statement.

It wasnt

Yes I do know how salaries work. It is very obvious you do not. They complained about long hours and not making a living wage. The wage does not change do too hours. So it is you who don’t understand if you think lower hours will make their wage go up.

Link to them recieving more pay and less hour!

How much complaining do you think they’d do if they were paid a $36K salary and worked 20 hours per week?

SOSDD. Not that you are given an opportunity to learn and develop skills while being paid. More just whining that it isn’t fair… it isn’t enough…

People used to give their eye teeth to be accepted as an apprentice so they could learn a trade and were grateful for the opportunity.

Semantics. A blanket statement was made by you. I replied with a blanket statement

So the campaign cut their hours. You dont know how many “they” are.

Link to where they cut their hours and how that raises their wages.

Read the thread. If cutting hours doesnt raise their wage than increasing hours doesnt lower their wage. You’re contradicting yourself

“If” isn’t the link requested. Show the link that the hours were cut and the workers are now indeed making $15.00 per hour, or the equivalent which is they work no more than 40 hours per week at the same salary rate.
