Much like why it takes a lot more time for Congress to form commissions like with 9-1-1 because investigations and findings do not often materialize/conclude in mere days, weeks or even months immediately after the incident in question.
So the election was last November. It was certified and people put in office in January. But if it takes a few more months to START an investigation into fraud, thatâs a-ok with you?
Totally farcical scenario, but fun to consider while we fantasize about goofy constitutional mechanisms:
If electors are decertified some time in 2024, and Trump takes the electoral lead as a result⌠is he then ineligible to be elected in 2024, having now already been âtwice electedâ.
Look it up, it took Congress over a year to 1st establish a commission. Noteworthy that the commission was mandated to provide recommendations designed to guard against future attacks.
The National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States, also known as the 9/11 Commission, was set up on November 27, 2002 , "to prepare a full and complete account of the circumstances surrounding the September 11 attacks ", including preparedness for and the immediate response to the attacks. The commission was also mandated to provide recommendations designed to guard against future attacks.
In my opinion, this is the Republican party end game. Itâs been decades in the making. Starting in the 90s, previously fringe liberal ideals became moderate then widely accepted. Gay marriage, environmental protection, Obamacare, immigration reform, mental health views. The list goes on. Instead of adapting to changing beliefs, the Republican party doubled down on hardline conservative views. Abortion, guns, traditional marriage, anti-immigration, religion, etc. That decision created a smaller fervent base and lost some of the center and left leaning Republicans. This has been compounded by a shrinking white Christian population.
Weâve seen that play out in the polls. In the last 20 years, the Republicans have won one presidential election with the popular vote. Their two other wins were by electoral college alone, losing the popular vote. Several states with a fairly strong history of Republican support have trended left, with some now blue states.
The Republicans saw this coming. Republican states used their power to redistrict and maintain majorities even as the demographics of their constituents changed. That can only last so long. To bolster things some states have passed election reforms in hope of keeping power a little longer.
The last step is to normalize the rejection of election results. If an election is not in the partyâs favor, the automatic reaction is to question the process. It doesnât matter if there is no evidence or if legal maneuvers fail. If the Republicans didnât win, itâs because someone cheated them out of it.
So here were are. A cycle of doubling down on fringe conservative beliefs, redistricting, changing voting practices and finally rejecting results of legal elections. Unfortunately this is how things will be for the foreseeable future.
Clearly if the Dems had their way the electoral college would already be a thing of the past. Playing by the rules of the Constitution the general election for the Presidency does not include winning the popular vote.
Iâm not so sure its a long con. I think itâs more, which is more fun? Struggling to convince the blue collar workers that you conned into supporting you by pretending to be the party of family values that cutting taxes on teh wealthy and deregulating industries so they can â â â â you over is actually a good thing for you to support because âfreedom!â and 'weâre not communistsâŚ
âŚorâŚ
Telling those same voters that the only reason you lost was because of those cheating, vile scumbag democrats!!!
Particularly when the leader of your partyâs greatest trick is convincing the base of the same?
Itâs truly a come to jesus moment for republicans. Stand on the principles that you think are good for america, or shout â â â â â â â â and go to work for fox news.
AZ Senate Repugs fought the good fight to suppress the records and to be honest I canât blame them.
Who knew that leaning into the big lie, hiring Cyberninjas to conduct a âforensicâ audit of one county, whoâs CEO voices âAnonâ in the conspiracy film The Deep Rig just to appeal to crazy Trumpers would have the potential to blow up in their faces?
BTW has anyone checked in on Doug? Itâs been a bit now
It was a complete nonsense that there was an attempt to suppress any information into the process of the Cyber Ninjaâs audit of the election and speaks to the motivation of those involved in making the decision for an audit.
We should clarify that these are not court orders. The subpoena for the routers was issued by the legislature, and in this instance not even the full legislature. A single member issued the subpoena.
The legal force of such an instrument is not well established.
